Thanks for all the purrs guys. Unfortunately, there was nothing anyone
could do because the poor little chap had no bladder control left. I
made the decision to have him go to Rainbow Bridge rather than live
without dignity confined in a cage.
I'm gutted.

Awww. Helen, I'm so sorry to hear this. Poor little fellow. It's best this
way because he sounded very miserable. Many comforting hugs and purrs to
you.

I'm so sorry, Helen. But it was probably the best decision for him.

I'm so very sorry. The poor wee thing should not have had to endure such
misery and it should have been noticed so very much sooner. At least he
finally found someone who cared. For a little scrap that was cared for very
little in his tiny life he is getting tears worldwide not. I'm so sorry
your heart was put on the line in the process, but so glad you were able to
get him what he needed.

I'm really sorry Helen. You did the kindest thing for poor Tiny Tim.
I'm really grieving for him and I only knew about him for 12 hours or
so. Poor mite. At least he found love and kindness at the end.

You made the only humane decision, but I know it has to hurt terribly.
Eventually you will be able to console yourself with the fact that you
did everything you could, and a lot more than most people would have
done.

He passed over with someone to care for him and look out for
him...that must be a consolation. He did not pass unknown or unloved.
Someday, when you are ready, his spot in your home will go to save
another life. But his spot in your heart will always be his own.

Oh, Helen, I'm so sorry. Even Harri Roadcat is subdued upon hearing that.
At least the poor little thing went to the bridge having known what it
is to be loved and cared for. To experience those things briefly is far
better than not to experience them at all.
Purrs coming for you to deal with the loss, and for the little one to
find his way to the Bridge peacefully. He'll have a lot of good company

Once you get a little steadied from the loss, please find out what the %^#$
they were thinking performing surgery on this poor thing in his condition
anyway.
It is absolutely unbelievable that they anesthetized and neutered him with
no concern for his underlying health. Or that they said they did and
didn't.

You can guarantee that I won't be dropping this issue with the vet, Jo.
I think that's what hurts almost as much as the fact he had to go to RB.
The fact the VET didn't notice, but I did.

It's too late for this little guy ;-(, but I want to post this for
others that might come across something similar.
http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_cats_with_broken_tails.html
Loss of bladder control is common with some tail injuries, but with time
and a commitment from the caretaker to make sure the bladder is
expressed a few times a day during thehealing process (which is a fairly
easy thing to learn to do at home), a lot of cats will make a full
recovery and regain bladder control. According to the link a month's
wait is a reasonable time to see if any function is regained and a
decision for the future can be based on that. There was a website that a
poster that used to be on RPCHB has up that tells the story of her cat
Major Barbara, who had a similar problem. The site isn't up anymore, but
an archived version of the story is here:
