Around Thanksgiving I posted that I had chosen a cat from the humane
society to adopt. Her homecoming was postponed due to the staff
finding 2 cats with ringworm.
They removed the 2 with the ringworm, removed all cat furniture,
cleaned the room and kept the other cats quarantined for 30 days. I
found out that they also dipped the cats.
The cats were allowed visitors again about a week and a half ago. I
went in on a Friday to see her. She came right up to me and I swear
she knew she was supposed to go home with me.
I had talked with my vet about any possible ways to check her for
ringworm before I brought her home. The vet had me brush Pinky with a
new toothbrush and they sent it to the lab to check for fungus. I got
the news yesterday that she is clean so will probably pick her up on
Thurs. I've been telling the others that they're getting a new
sister. : )
I wanted to share something else with you guys. A few weeks ago I
went to a holistic healing workshop and met an animal communicator
there. It was interesting hearing her stories and I decided to give
her a call since I had a few questions about my pets.
A while back I posted about my male cat, Jake, pooping outside his
litter box (he was peeing in the box). I asked her to ask him why and
she told me he has neuropathy (he is declawed) and suggested a softer
litter.
I asked if he missed his sister (Annie passed in April). He said no,
she's still hangin around. The lady said she saw a hammock in the
sun. I have a kitty hammock in my bedroom and Annie always laid there
in the afternoon sun. She said that's where Annie is hanging out,
just watching the action.
I asked if Jake would mind another cat in the house. He said it
depended on who it was and she needed to have her own stuff - whatever
that means.
I asked the lady about Penny, who was shot with a bb gun about 2 years
ago. She said Penny's spirit is in another continent, she couldn't
understand the language, and that she's exploring the world. I
believe that, she did like to explore the neighborhood.
The lady also told me that it was an adult man that shot her, not a
teenager, and that he is affected by what he did and is having to
process it. I got a vague description of the man and the yard, not
enough to definitely know who it is. Based on what she said, it
wasn't who I thought it might have been.
I found out a few things about the dogs too. Kodi loves living in a
multi-species house, and he likes when I bring other animals in to
foster. Especially those that he can baby. Chyna doesn't like Jack
Russell terriers 'cause "they're not really dogs". They're more like
cats, plus they have an attitude that they're in charge so she has to
show them that she's in charge. That sounds about right to me : )
I also asked Chyna about a kennel I left her at in 2005 that I didn't
feel right about. This was where when they brought her out to me, I
noticed she had been licking her leg and the owner said "Oh, I didn't
notice."
I asked if it was a bad experience and Chyna said it was a dark
experience; it was dirty, they were fed but no special treats. And
that she felt like she went from being a house dog to a kennel dog.
Some may think this is bogus but she did hit on some things that I did
not share. A friend also called her. Her daughter asked "Why does
Morgan always potty on my floor." Morgan's response was "I don't
ALWAYS potty on the floor" which the daughter admitted was true. He
too has problems with his paws and started using the box when she
changed litters.
If this piques anyone's interest, I read a very good book by Marta
Williams "Learning Their Language".
Anyway, I will post pictures of the new arrival after the holidays.
May everyone have a wonderful and safe holiday.

Theresa
