I mentioned in an earlier post how cold it is here, and how Kenzie keeps
begging to go out on the front porch, only to beg to come in about 2 or
3 minutes later.

Rinse, lather repeat, sometimes 3 or 4 times in an hour.

Well, today is no exception. I have let Kenzie out on the front porch 3
times (so far...).

But the last time, I didn't hear her meowing to get back in (her meow is
very soft, so sometimes I don't hear her right away).

Well, more than15 minutes went by, and I figured I better check on her.

She was perched on the top of the back of the old armchair on my porch,
crouched down in attack position.

There was an absolutely gorgeous long hair brown tabby sitting (on the
packed snow) on my driveway.

Kenzie was letting out intermittent hisses like a leaky steam pipe, and
her tail was all puffed out.

The pretty brown tabby was just sitting there, watching Kenzie.

He/she didn't look thin, so I hope he has a home nearby. No collar, of
course.

But I've never seen him/her before, and I know all the neighborhood
kitties. I hope this isn't a lost kitty, as the wooden light and power
poles in my neighborhood are always displaying pictures of lost cats and
dogs :-(

I finally had to pick up Kenzie and carry her inside; she was quite
cold, but seemed determined to protect my house (from the safety of the
glassed in porch) against the intruder kitty, for as long as necessary.

Great story! I hope that the kitty has a home too.
Best wishes,
