CatNipped - 16 Dec 2007 17:53 GMT I've finally gotten around (slowly) to getting Archer and Ozzy's pages up on my web site. So far I've only gotten a portion of Archer's page, but I'd like some opinions before I go any further. So please, go to http://www.possibleplaces.com/CatNipped/Archer.asp and let me know what you think.

I couldn't help but notice a couple of typos: bizarre and precipitate. Keep going...

Don't worry about the typo's - local newspapers are full of them anyway! ;-)

I think you should mention, in that news story, about a ladder being found by polic on the floor of the garage, in a "suspicous" position, as though it had been knocked down. :)
Very cute. I like how you integrated it with real news.
And the photo is full of hoolikitten evil. :)

I looked at that page, then clicked on the "Da Boyz playing" link, it showed me a couple of pictures and my browser quit.
Too much Javascript, maybe?

Could you maybe say what kind of files lie behind your links? I wasn't expecting movies at the point when I clicked on them - for somebody on dialup, they could get an unwelcome surprise.
Your two look about the same size as my Ollie in those movies - he's six months. Slightly lighter than yours, and has a distinctive tail that he holds curled round in a circle like a pig.

I had two links under "Movies" - would it have helped if I put the file type? I'd love to know how some sites put a YouTube video on the site - YouTube movies always download so much faster.

I guess I didn't even see the word "Movies" the first time - my vision isn't that great and you use very small print (maybe this is a Mac/Windows thing? - some sites have bigger lettering viewed on Windows than on a Mac and there is no easy way to compensate).
It's a nice fast-loading site.
> I'd love to know how some sites put a YouTube video on the site - > YouTube movies always download so much faster. YouTube has an "Embed" option. I've never tried it, but I suppose it emails you a bit of HTML code to do the magic.
With that carpet you must spend half the day hoovering.

Javascript lets you test which browser is being used, at which time you could choose the appropriate font for that browser ("you" being the web developer, not the person browsing). In general, Macs and PCs support different browsers, although I guess Firefox works on both. Was your experience with different font sizes on Macs and PCs also on different browsers, or the same browser but on the different platforms?

Jack Campin - bogus address - 20 Dec 2007 00:58 GMT >> (maybe this is a Mac/Windows thing? - some sites have bigger lettering >> viewed on Windows than on a Mac and there is no easy way to compensate). [quoted text clipped - 4 lines] > experience with different font sizes on Macs and PCs also on different > browsers, or the same browser but on the different platforms? I think it's something to do with the font metrics - nothing to do with what browser you're using. (I use iCab on this old MacOS 9 machine most of the time, Firefox on the MacOS X machine in the next room when I need to use a site it can't access; I also have Safari and Flock but virtually never use them. CatNipped's site is nicely portable and works fine on this ancient contraption).
It's not just my experience. A lot of the time I just go for a brute-force fix and set my browser to ignore the site's font, size and background settings entirely.

Works ok even with my slow internet conncetion.
Loved especially this sentence: ""What's one more cat?" We have a large home and we love to have it filled with feline wonderfulness as much as it will hold.""
Means to me - if any possible I will keep my 4 new ones.

Don't know if anyone has pointed it out, perhaps privately, that on Ozzy's page, you said he was named after a hubby's favorite rock start (I personally think that's cute, but since you had said you wanted proofing).
