A few days before we picked up the Fabulous Furballs, , of course had
the excitement of a visit to our pet shop to make those "I've got new
kittens purchases"!

And of course, one was a scratching post- a proper scratching post!
Fugazi and Isis never for some reason had one, but they weren't a
problem as they used to savage cardboard boxes and the bookshops I
worked in for most of their lives (all of Fugazi's come to think of
it) were an endless source of cardboard boxes-glad for someone to take
them off their hands in fact! But for the Fabulous Furballs nothing
would do but I brought them a proper post!

And when they arrived I took them to it and repeatedly demonstrated
how to use it and the only use they had out of it was they would jump
onto it and sit on the top so they could reach the back of the chair
to scratch that!

Somehow we never got to throwing the useless thing out and in the
fullness of time, we found the Cosmic Catnip cardboard flat posts were
a big hit even to the extent of having to spend a rather large sum
when we couldn't get them locally anymore to buy some off ebay.

Then the other night....Redunzel gave the post a tentative scratch.

And today she is really giving it a serious hammering

It only took four and a half years to get one of our cats to use a
scratching post!

I've always said she was a laid back hippy cat but this has to be a
record!

We have had a scratching post for many years.

It has been ignored by Pish RB, Quango RB, Nanki Poo and Minke RB.

LOL again! I'm so glad Mir and Caliban love to scratch their cat trees.
The only other thing they scratch is a chair, but that5 was a project
started by Frank and Nikki, so they must carry on the tradition, of course.

Mischief - 17 Dec 2007 00:01 GMT
Well, I got my cats the Alpine scratcher 4 years ago and nobody
touched it at all. They preferred batting the toy that was in the
small hole underneath.

Now all of a sudden Mischief is scratching at it.  SHEESH!!
