Purrs for the new kiddies on the block

Well, well, well - this is a year full of surprises. Opened my front
door hours ago and found, that someone had put a big cardboard box in
front of my garden gate. Opened it and found - you`ll guess - four
cutest kittens, about 3 month old. <sigh>

Now they are sitting all four in a big rabbit cage which I put in my
living-room for the warmth there. They were a bit anxious but now they
have eaten, they get accustomed to the new location. They are in a
very good shape. Well padded, means chubby. Puhh. What to do next. Ah
- my own ones sniffed around the cage but are now all outside. They
don`t bother the kittens.

I now will go through the village and try to find people who are
willing to take in one or two. I would hate to bring them to the
shelter. I hate for everyone to be imprisoned. But if I can`t find
people who take them in I have to bring them to the shelter. So nice -
I haven`t got money for gas at the moment. I have enough to make one
tour.

Of course I would like to keep them all, but I already have 9. T
here has to be a limit. This is about responsibility.

Please send some purrs for the kitties to find a good new home soon.

And - I can`t let them in that cage for hours. Well, I could, but I
don`t want to. They seem to be healthy, no cat flu. Oh well, just a
daring day again.

At the moment´someone inside of me is thinking about taking them all
in.

PLEASE talk me out of that.

My big ones wouldn`t like to share the available place.
There is a limit of cats who can share one given space. <sigh>

One neighbour already turned the idea of taking one or two down.

I am now going to see some other villagers now.

DON'T!!! STOP!!!

There's one reason. Well, nine reasons actually.

There's another.

Here's another. Tell yourself that you can't even afford the gas
to drive around town - how on earth would you pay for all the
extra kibble and gooshy food?

Oh dear. But you must have more neighbours!

Purrs that your search is successful.

Ah - you working subcontious - negative encouragement.<g>
Might work. But at the moment I am coming closer to the thought of
keeping them all.
Hmm - food I get partly from an animal rescue organisation.
As I took in so many strays over the years someone decided to help me
with food.

They are so not tamed that I don`t know how to present them to a
person which would come to see them. And they are sitting all day long
in my bathroom. Can`t stand that.

We'll see.

Thank you for your help.

That's great! You are sort of a one-person kitty rescue, after all. :)

What about vet care, though? Does the group help with that? I have
found that vet care is the much bigger expense. If I can feed 3 cats,
it's not a whole lot more food to add one, or two. And if I were
struggling for money, I'd buy the cheap stuff. But it's hard to find
cheap vet care.

Maybe you'll be able to socialize them, and then they will be more
attractive to potential adoptors.

Do the kittens actually seem unhappy in the bathroom, ie, crying to
get out, and so on? If not, then I wouldn't assume they don't like it.
It might be worse for you to see them like that than it is for them.
Kittens tend to feel safer in small spaces. A large area can be
overwhelming to a kitten when it's unfamiliar.

Of course, it's probably not that convenient for you to have them
in the bathroom, so as soon as you can get your established group to
accept the kittens, the easier it will be for everyone.

Well, VetCare became a problem this year in which happened so much.
No, it is only a little Animal Rescue group which can provide some
food but
not the VetCare costs. So after this eventful year I am deep in debth
with all my friends.
Fortunately I haven`t had much VetCare costs for the last 9 years.
A neutering here, a vaccination there, when new ones came in.
I do not believe in vaccinating everyone every year and my Vet is with
me in this.
Good Vet.<g>

You are thinking along the same line as me here. I came up through the
last hours
that it might be a good idea to let them out of the bathroom tomorrow
and have them meet the others.
After two weeks or so I would see how everybody feels, if there is
enough space for all of them during wintertime in the house. If not I
could try then to give 2 or three away.
By then they should have grown some trust to people (in this case
me<g>) and it would be easier
to socialize them with another human. Does that thinking make sense?
At the moment I am again afraid to ask too much from my gang here.

I am a bad decision maker if it comes to so important decisions which
mean a big difference to some lifes.
Or maybe it is not that big a decision, it is easy and I just choose
right now the wrong point of view.

OK - I`ll keep them for some weeks and if it works out, forever.
If the situation becomes too dense here I will give 2 or three away.
Fullstop.<g>

I think they are ok in the bathroom, it is only me who doesn`t like to
close someone in.
And it must be booring. Tomorrow the real deal begins.<g>

Thank you so much for helping me, and supporting me right now.
Maybe I sound strong. I am strong. But - hey it is strenuous to keep
that up.
Might be that' s one thing husbands are for - they help carry the
challenges.<g>
And friends, of course do that.

Yes, I think it does. If they have interactions with you for the next
two weeks or so, they are more likely to be comfortable with other humans,
or at least, more comfortable than they are now. With some cats it can
take a long time, but these are babies, so it might be much quicker.

Some of them, anyway! :)

Purrs and homing thoughts that you can find the little bitties their
forever homes.  At least the person who dumped them on you had enough
sense to know to bring them to someone who cares and is responsible.
You're a good woman and Bast counts on you and people like you.

Sounds like you have a reputation in your village. :) Someone has
kittens they can't keep? Just leave them in front of Bettina's door.
Hmm. Not exactly fair to you, but you're doing exactly what they
expected - taking responsibility for the kitties. Because if you
didn't, who would? It's so kindhearted of you to rescue them.

Purrs for *four* new homes for the kitties! (Well, OK, maybe fewer
if some of them go together.)

Thank you all for your purrs and good thoughts.
Today I got a call of someone who knows someone who might be
interested.
Will visit at weekend.

Problem is - the kitties are now in my bathroom and anxious.
I couldn`t show them to people as they hide in the smallest spaces.
<sigh>
Have to figure out how to present them or keep them.<g>
They are sort of the most beautiful kitties ever seen.
Try to take pics.

Thank you Marina, I think I might keep them.
I am officially now in the CCLC (crazy cat lady club)

I think I am going to design a logo for this club.<g>
