Dot often reminds me so much of her sister. She's like Betty, but
with all the subtlety stripped away. :)
When I was working around the house, Betty would supervise from a
respectful three paces away. Dot sticks her nose into everything, and
I can't even brush my teeth without being headbutted from the sink.
Betty would only get zoomies after I've gone to bed, and I never saw
her zoom, only heard it. Dot zooms all over the place, all the time.
Betty would nosekiss. Dot's kiss goes: "lick, lick, lick, lick,
bite".
Still, she insists on certain protocol, particularly with Buster.
Buster's sometimes not allowed to come into a room, and Dot will guard
a doorway and prevent him from coming in. When that happens, Buster
is supposed to sit quietly for a while and wait. When Dot turns away
from him, that means that he's allowed to slowly pass by.
Buster does make some mistakes though. Like jumping onto the cat tree
without checking to see first whether Dot is there. Or trying to
sneak up to Dot and curl up next to her while she's sleeping. Last
week, I found a little scratch on his nose - he must've made a major
transgression.
To Betty, home was a sanctum where everything was treated with
reverence and care. I wonder what she would've made of Buster?
He's such a goofy little pest kitty. When he streches out to sleep on
your chest, putting his polydactyl paws on your cheeks and dreaming,
it feels like you have a giant centipede crawling on your face.

Tak, that sounds like a very busy household!

I would enjoy both kitties, myself. Subtlety is nice, but so is
uninhibited demonstrativeness (IMO).

My, how the tables have turned!

I was just thinking that - Betty never had to deal with another cat.
You might've seen another side of her if she had.

He sounds like a character! And a sweetheart, too.
Glad things have settled down over there.

It sounds like these two, while they may not be a match for each other, are
each a good match for you in their own way.
Sounds like they are growing on each other though.

lol! They sound like Lacey and Barnabus. She gets so mad at him
sometimes but occasionally we see her initiate the play fight so we
don't feel too sorry for either of them. It sounds like your feline
family is coming together very nicely. You've done a good job with
both of them.

Thanks for the update, Tak.

Somehow I missed this post! THis has happened a few times with Sugar and
Pearl. It is hilarious...to me. Whichever cat is jumping up is very
offeneded.

We had a minor (to us, not to Jake) set two a few nights ago. Camille the
tiny terror that thinks she's a dog was on Charlie's lap sleeping. Jake
came inside, ran across the room and jumped into Charlie's lap. Yapping,
growling shrieking and hisspitting were followed by Jake stalking across the
room puffed up like a feather duster. You could just see how pissed he was
at letting the mini-demon get to him and at not being able to get his puffy
fur to lie back down.
All two and a half pounds of Camille stood up and growled for a while to let
us know how tough she thinks she is.

This is an excellent visual, and I'm sitting here chuckling, imagining
what that must have looked like. :)

LOL! Thanks for the best laugh this morning! Poor Jake, hope his dignity
didn't suffer too much.

So glad to hear that Dot's got her mojo back.
