I took off work today to finish up clearing the leaves (the city
has a leaf-sucker-upper-thingie and they come around and get them
from the curb). When I was finished, and since the kittens are
feeling so much better (hardly even sneezing now!) I let them come
out for a bit. I set up the big dog crate thinking I'd use that to
introduce them to Shamrock and Bonnie, but since Shamrock is great
with them, and Bonnie just goes to another room, I let them run
around. Boy, they must have needed the extra space because they
used every square inch of it. ;) Shamrock demonstrated to them
that the big cat tree is his, and any puny kitten was going to be
knocked off. Didn't stop them one bit though. lol They learned to
dodge his punches (he was actually being more gentle than I thought
he'd be). They discovered Bonnie's hiding spot (under my bed) and
wouldn't leave her alone. Shamrock supervised. She wasn't mean, but
she did hiss. She came right back out once they went back to their
room for a much needed nap, so she isn't "traumatized". She's going
to take more work, so a slower introduction is going to be needed.
Shamrock was depressed when they went back to their room and camped
outside their door.

How sweet! How wonderful! I must've missed your trapping the wild
babies. Shamrock sure likes the kittens.

They sure are sweet! I didn't trap them, though. A guy I work with
forwarded an email from a friend of his, who did find them and
rescue them. Good timing for me. :) I was just thinking that we
needed a new kitty. I wasn't counting on two, but the litter was so
sweet I couldn't bear to take just one. I wanted all 4 but that
would be insane. ;)
In my story I meant to write that once Shamrock saw the two of them
running around chasing each other, he wanted in the game and would
chase one. Next thing I knew, a little one is chasing Shamrock at
high speed. It's so funny watching these chasing games and more
funny when you can't see where the chasee must have done a 180 and
became the chaser.

That's great! I bet it won't take Bonnie too long to come around. They are
growing like weeds!

Aww, what a good big brother Shamrock is! The pics are so cute and
funny. I especially like the one where the kitten is climbing up the
tree while Shamrock is lying at the top with his paw ready to slap him.
Purrs that Bonnie comes around soon.

thanks Marina. She did a bit better tonight. I might have done the
wrong thing, but she doesn't seem too bothered now. I closed my BR
door (she hides in there) and I shut the door to the downstairs
because I don't want the kittens down there yet (they LOVE playing
on the stairs) so she crouched in the corner and hissed when they
came near. They didn't try to push it, so she mostly just watched
them. She started coming further from the corner so she could watch
them when they went out of her line of sight, and they managed to
play a few feet from her, and she didn't hiss. I just put them back
in their room for the night, and she came to me for pets and lovin.
I'm not going to push it too much with her; she's already pretty
high-strung. The kittens room has lots of room to play safely, a
window and a kitty condo, scratching post and lots of toys so they
should be ok in there during this introduction period. I hope so
anyway. I just want them to be out here. :)

I think Bonnie is accepting them too. She's curious, at least. :)

Sounds like she's pretty curious about her new siblings. Good sign, I'd
say. :o)

Heh. Shamrock is the one that I call a dog-in-a-cat-suit. He'll
teach them how to act like dogs. ;) Seriously, though, I see a new
life in Shamrock that I haven't seen before. He's having a blast!
And, such a good cat-daddy!

EEEEKKK! How cute. I especially loved the "king of the cat tree" pic!! I
had to download it and use Photoshop CS to do a "Highlight/Shadow"
adjustment in order to really see it well, but it was worth it! [Which
reminds me, if anyone has a picture that comes out too dark, you can send it
to me and I'll do that great little adjustment (I think it's a new feature
in Photoshop CS) and then send it back to you. Sometimes the best "action"
pictures seem to come out too dark to really showcase the action you tried
to capture and this feature is a picture lifesaver!]
Anyway, thanks for the pics Cheryl, they were fabulous. The kittens are
adorable and, of course, so is Shamrock.
Hugs,
CatNipped
