When did my baby-cat Miss Lily Whiskers turn into a fully grown 11lb
adult? She's 2 years old now (Yikes! Where does time go??) and
yesterday she went to see her TED for her annual shots.
He told me that she weighed 11.5lbs. I asked him how that could be as
she was still only a baby. When he stopped laughing, he gently
reminded me that she was now 2 years old and had been fully grown for
a while.
I have to confess, I don't see a fully grown cat when I look at her. I
still see the baby kitten she was.
WHEN did she turn into a cat? LOL!

Sammy is still my favorite kitten cat even if she is 7 yo
Course Furby is now my favorite kitten kitty, LB is my favorite mama
kitty, Spot's my favorite spotted kitty, Princess is my favorite
princess kitty. When I was at TED with Princess and Furby I said
something about one of them being my favorite, and TED accused me of
playing favorites. I just told her that I do it all the time, and when
she asked who my favorite all time cat was I told her it was whoever I
was petting at the time ;-)

I guess it sneaks up on you! My question was when did my sleek Persia who
was allegedly 2 years old turn into a fat fluffy cat that can only eat 1/2
cup of food a day? And she's still fat :)

I can certainly relate to that! Melisande weighs about the
same as Miss Lily Whiskers (11.5 lbs.) but at nearly ten
years, I KNOW she's getting up there, even though she still
plays like a kitten. Cendrillon on the other hand.... I
don't know how old she was when she was abandoned my my
neighbor across the hall. (Although I suspect that the
reason she wasn't spayed when they de-clawed her was that
she was too young - hence when she came in heat a week after
I got her, it was probably for the first time.)
That was a couple of years ago, but I've continued to think
of her as "my little one" (she only weighs nine pounds).
The other day, I really LOOKED at her face. She now has the
look of a mature cat - where did that appealing little
kitten face go? She's still beautiful, of course, but
definitely "cat", not "kitten".

I hear you. It's hard with Dante, because he is a tightly-packed 13-pound
bowling ball, and he has only slowed down slightly since he was a tiny scrap
of black and white. He still talks in a high-pitched squeak. I still call
him "The Bitty," and when he gets too rowdy, he still gets "time-outs" in
"Kitten Jail." ;)

Aww {{{{Helen}}}} It happens so fast, doesn't it?
I still can't get used to Kate and Jack being full-grown. It doesn't
help that Jack apparently decided to remain a kitten: he's small,
skinny, and acts like a kitten. Kate, on the other hand, his same-age
sister, has the regal look of a Cat, and a nice, big booty on her --
lol. She looks *nothing* like a kitten, nor does she usually act like
one. They could be years apart in age if you didn't know they were
Bro-Bro and Sissy.
I'm watching our little guest, Pinky, too, and it is amazing. I swear
he was a teeny thing just last week. But suddenly, he's long and lean
and hungry all the time, and just growing so fast I can't believe it.

A propos of nothing...
This has suddenly caused me to remember my favorite Simpsons episode.
It's the one where he eats Guatemalan Insanity Peppers at the chili
cook-off contest. The peppers have hallucinogenic properties, which
cause Homer to have a "mystical" experience (starring Johnny Cash).
At one point, the sun is setting, and he is walking toward the horizon.
As he steps forward, the sun visibly moves down. Then he backs up,
and the sun rises up a bit. He steps forward a few steps, it goes down,
backs up, it goes up. He repeats this several times, going "Sunrise...
sunset... sunrise... sunset..." faster and faster, until the sun crashes
into the horizon and breaks into a million pieces. "D'OH!!!" ("Note to
self: Don't do *anything*.")
If you haven't seen this episode, the above probably made no sense.
If you have seen it, I hope it brought back amusing memories. :)
