I got to go out!  [OT]

Without transportation or funds, it gets to be a bit difficult to go out
-- like, it pretty much never happens for me.

But my good friend Jennifer asked me to go out last night to a bar/club
to hear a really interesting variety of local women artists.  I tried a
beer from Italy, Old Speckled Hen from England, and topped it off with a
good ol' St. Pauli Girl from Germany.  The music was fabulous, ranging
from bluegrass, to folk, to rock.  I was very happy to get to hear Donna
Mogavero again; she's a local whom I haven't heard for awhile, but who
is absolutely excellent.  She mentioned something about some terrible
incident in her life, but didn't go into detail.  Come to find out, she
fell on stage last year and broke her hip and shattered her pelvis!  I
stopped by her table last night to say hi, but had I known then, I'm
sure we could have had one heck of a commiseration conversation!

People there were really nice; in spite of the cold, there were smiles
everywhere.  The waitress was absolutely awesome; I have no idea how she
kept track of so many orders and zipped them to their appropriate
patrons with such speed.

All in all, a wonderful evening.  And we're going out again tomorrow!  A
mutual friend who has her own natural beauty products business is having
her yearly open house, so we will get to visit with Kris, and sniff the
delightful smells of her herbal products while eating some nice
munchies.  Sounds good to me :-)

obCats:  It sounds like Pinky may be just what Jen's friend needs.  I
emailed Jen some adorable new photos of him; still keeping my fingers
crossed, though I will miss him terribly when he finds that one true
forever home.

I did -- and didn't even realize it.  In the words of Martha Steward,
"it's a good thing" ;-}

That is so great. And I can really relate to this, because sometimes I
spent too much time alone, not going out, not talking to people, which
can then cause me to get pretty depressed and not even want to do anything
at home. Then suddenly out of nowhere I get an invitation from someone I
haven't seen in a while, and I have a great time. Next thing I know, I've
bounced out of my bad mood, and I realize that I was just bored to death!
Bored, lonely, and far too understimulated.

Excellent!

I know what you mean.  There are times when I'd be a virtual hermit if it
weren't for my Toastmasters clubs.

You know, Joyce, it hadn't even dawned on me that this might be true for
me.  I'm glad you realized the cycle.  Now if I can just remember this
lesson for myself . . . .

Thanks, Joyce.  It was quite nice, too.  I got quite a few nice little
things for gifts from my friend's business, and she gave me a *deep*
discount, which was so sweet of her :-)  Nice music, lovely healthy
snacks (and cookies -- heh -- gotta have the cookies!), and I hadn't
seen her and her SO in ages, so that was nice, too.

I'm glad you had a chance to go out and have a good time, and that you have
another one coming up.

Thank you, Joy.

You mentioned your Toastmsters Club.  That sounds like a great thing to
be a part of to get you out doing things.  I'm glad you have it in your
life.

I'm still purring, but he's still here.  Sigh.  His first Yule, and it's
with foster parents.  Oh, well.  He will adjust, I keep reminding
myself.  I just wish this woman would say "Yes".  Maybe I should tell
Jen to invite her over for a "getting-to-know-you" session?  Kind of
move it forward a bit?  I'm sure she'll fall in love with him as soon as
she sees him!

That would probably be a good idea. She would also see that you already
have a house full of cats, so you can't keep him. ;) (D*mn it's hard to
write with a Mircat on my arm...)
