Ok my friends  I have a couple request for some prayers and purrs

First I have a friend that had a major car accident a couple weeks ago  He
survived with head trauma.  He was able to go home a few days later and was
doing well.  Well tonight he went back to the hospital with a major heart
attack.  He is in critical condition.  This is a major blow to all of them
for his wife is a cancer patient with a rare condition.  She is fighting but
she is fighting a losing battle.  She is not doing well.  Their kids just
went off to college a few months back.

So any purrs and prayers you can spare will be appreciated more than words
can say.

Also I took Phantom for his re examination.  It is hyperthyroidism.  He will
be on pills for the rest of his life.  He has a bit of diminished vision not
much.  So some purrs that his blood work shows the medication is working
would be appreciated also.

Thank you my friends

Wow, that's a double blow! Although I wonder if it's not a coincidence.
Could his car accident have been caused by an earlier heart attack (a
more minor one, maybe, but still causing him to black out)?

Purrs for his whole family!

Purrs for the thyroid meds to work. I wonder if he is reacting to flame
retardants in your furniture, carpets, etc? I read recently (might've been
posted here, actually) that there has been an epidemic of hyperthyroidism
in cats because of this. Maybe you should try to find him a cat bed that
doesn't have any of those chemicals in it?

The heart attack may well have been triggered by a clot caused by the car
accident, which formed somewhere else in his body and then floated through
the bloodstream until it got caught in a heart artery.  Strokes are
sometimes caused this way as well.

I will pray for his health and his wife's health.

Purrs for your friend and his family.  That must be awful.

Also purrs for Phantom's bloodwork.  I know how you feel -- we are
supposed to find out today if Oscar's chemo dosage is working.

Thanks.  Well ... every creature has to die.  DH and I are lucky in
that we know that Oscar's time is coming up, so we can spoil her
rotten and really make her last days on earth full of love.

In any case, she's doing well right now.  I woke up this morning to
find her asleep, purring, next to me in bed.  Awww =)

You got it, Matthew.  That has to be such a depressing and frightening
setback for everyone.  Healing purrs (both physically and emotionally)
being sent for all.

{{{Matthew}}} At least it *can* be dealt with, and that is good, even
though pilling him for the rest of his life isn't something you were
looking forward to, I'm sure.  Purrs that the meds work right away, and
that it is not a trauma for either you or him, and that you have many
happy years left together.

Thank you Ginger I will gladly pill any one of them to keep them around.
Phantom is actually very easy to do.  He has been the best cat to ever go to
the vet.  When I took him this time I strap the cage in and open the door to
give any of the cats lovin' to keep them calm.  He came out and curled up
against me and enjoyed the ride to and from.  he did want to get down by my
feet like he does at home but that was a big NO NO

This has been the strangest pack I have been ever owned by.  I got a
diabetic epileptic( which is both under control) furball named Rumble.
Spirit a nervous cat that's want a be Boston terrier that was poisoned
during the food recall almost lost him.  Got a prodactyl orange ball of
attitude named princess.  Now I got a hyperthyroid semi blind awry old man.
I won't go any further with the details too many off them.  Now would I
changed any of their personality or quirks  NOT A CHANCE.  But come on to
the powers that watch over us  wasn't the divorce enough. ;-)

So very sorry to hear about your friend and his family -- major purrs for
him to recover well and quickly!  Also, purrs for good regulation of
Phantom's hyperthyroidism!

Frank and Nikki were both on thyroid meds the last 3-4-5 years of their
lives. Neither one died of hyperthyroidism. Once you get into the
routine, it will be fine. I used to crush the pills and mix them into
something nice, like sour cream or sardines.

Purrs for your friend.

I know the problem won't kill him when it is treated  it is the other
factors that scare me such as blindness he has a slight loss of vision

Did the vet check his blood pressure? I know few vets even have the
equipment to check it. I don't know if you were here when Krista's Mike
was diagnosed with high BP and his retinas almost detached before he was
put on BP meds. Hyperthyroidism can cause high BP. Frank's vet first
suspected hyperthyroidism when his pulse was way too fast.

I didn't want to scare you, but this might be something to look into.

Already had that done.  No retina detachment that can be seen  the loss of
vision is peripheral.  My vet thinks the heart murmur is caused by the
thyroid problem  only time will tell once we get him regulated

Very late responding, but we'll send purrs and prayers for your friends,
and purrs that Phantom's blood work comes back with good news.

Thanks Sam  It did  he gets pilled once a day now instead  of 1/2 a pill
twice a day his thyroid level was 1.2  it was 6.9 when it was first tested.
The heart murmur is disappearing.  He does have some  peripheral loss

I also got good news about my friend  he is off the respirator, sitting up
in bed, talking to people and eating
