John had a break their lease and leave early on 12/1 (they did tell him they
were leaving and he really didn't care). But they left the studio apartment
a wreck. Trash everywhere, food still in the refrigerator, everything just
dirty. And they left the door standing wide open. He discovered that when
he went over on Monday to look around.
So he hired a lady to come in and clean up; she went over yesterday. He
went over in the afternoon to see how things were going. She said, "This
cat keeps trying to come inside!" Well guess what? The tenants left their
cat, too! GRRRRRRRRRR.
He said he should have guessed when he did the first walk-thru and there was
a litterbox sitting on the floor. It just didn't register because the cat
wasn't in the apartment.
He said she's the most loving little cat. An orange tabby. Even has a
collar with a tag on it. But she was starving! And cold! He'd shut off
the heat in the apartment the moment he knew the tenants were gone. But
they'd left the door standing open (presumably so the cat could come and go)
so it was freezing in there!
The woman who was cleaning the place took the cat until they can find
someone to take her. Purrs for this little orange kitty to find a good warm
forever home ASAP, please.

Oh, yes. Although the ratio of keeper to finder is pretty high and I
wouldn't be shocked if the cleaning lady ended up working for the
kitty.

Actually, Will, I wouldn't want that to happen. He said this woman lives
out in the country and she'd probably make the cat be a strictly outdoor
kitty. They live in the Ozarks. I can't begin to describe the dangerous
wild animals running around there. This kitty needs a warm, safe place
indoors.

I hope the kitty finds a happy new forever home soon. And one much
better than the past one with those heartless Cat Abandoners.

I have known happy and healthy outdoor kitties, although the safety
issue is insoluble in a place with bobcats, etc. I hope the kitty
finds a great home.
And don't be too harsh about the dangerous wildlife in the Ozarks. I
almost married one of them once.

Exactly. He told me he found some very large cat tracks on his property a
few months ago. Probably a mountain lion. I'm not sure but I think there
may still be a few brown bears roaming around those hills. Maybe even
wolves, or if nothing else feral dogs. Not a safe place for a sweet little
kitty to roam around.

LOL Well, John's not from there and I'm not getting married. But it sure
is pretty country :)

Mountain Lions aren't needed. Bobcats and feral dogs are bad enough
for housecats. In fact, wolves would be very good to have around as
they kill or drive off any feral dogs that the don't adopt and don't
hunt small prey very much themselves, despite Farley Mowat's amusing
piece of fiction disguised as research.
Brown bears? I would think black bears, although they are often brown.
Either would be unlikely to bother with anything as small as a
housecat.

It is and wilderness is wonderful but cats, if they are going to be
outdoors at all, need a tamer place. Like a fenced back yard.

Oh well - another case of mean behaviour. I don`t understand people.
I am tending to think I don`t like most of them.
I wish for the orange tabby to find a warm house full of love, and
food of course.<g>

I don't know how some people can live with their consciences. May they be
haunted by images of a starving cat in their dreams every night.
We are sending megapurrs from here for her to find a lifelong wonderful

Alas they won't. People who have the empathy to be haunted by the image of a
starving cat are not the sort of "people" who do things like this!
Conscience? I doubt they have one

People who do things like this are not human beings: they are nothing
but animals, taking up space and wasting oxygen.
Poor little orange kitty. I do hope somebody with a big heart opens it
to this darling kitty.
She deserves a loving forever home, after being abandoned by the
atavistic miscreants who threw her away, like she was a disposable piece
of trash.
Mega purrs on the way for this unfortunate little kitty.

I will NEVER understand how people can simply LEAVE an
animal to fend for itself, when they move! (I was going to
say "it's as bad as abandoning a child" - then realized that
some people do THAT, too.)
