Sorry, I know I'm impatient, but I wanted to take a sort of survey as to who did and who didn't get the "Meow at the Moon" reference - DH and I had an argument about it and I need ammunition! ;>

I don't think I'll catch that song reference... what's the name of the band?

But Archer's brother was very, *VERY* laid back, a bit laconic even. He loved to eat catnip and just roll around in it until he fell asleep. The only time he perked up was when Ben was playing his guitar or metal music on his stereo. So we ended up naming him for a doped-up, burnt-out ex rocker, Ozzy Osborne. In 2000, Ozzy Osborne came out with a CD called "Bark at the Moon" (http://www.amazon.com/Bark-at-Moon-Ozzy-Osbourne/dp/B000068R1X) or http://tinyurl.com/37l6e2. Thus, since Ozzy is the cat reincarnation of Ozzy Osborne, the reference to his "Meow at the Moon" tour. ;>
I *TOLD* Ben that not many people were going to get that "inside joke", but he insisted I leave it in and, oh well, if it makes him happy! ;>
The funny thing is that both boys are still living up to their namesakes!

I loved the card, though!

One question, though, did you get the "Meow at the Moon" reference, or was it too obscure for anyone but a 70s rocker?

MaryL - 06 Dec 2007 03:20 GMT >>> But has anyone gotten my Christmas card yet? >> [quoted text clipped - 11 lines] > > CatNipped What bit of fluff? Should there have been some fur inside? If so, Holly and Duffy were cheated because our card didn't include any. Or am I showing my age again and missing another reference?
I would not have understood the "Meow at the Moon" reference except that you had another message where you mentioned it. Otherwise, I think I'm too old to "catch" that reference.

I went out to the kitchen, and there it was -- on the floor close to where I opened the mail. It apparently dropped out of the envelope. I didn't notice it at the time, but Holly and Duffy probably discovered it long ago!

Or am I > showing my age again and missing another reference? No, I braved the dangers of Sammy's monster claws and teeth *twice* in December in order to get enough hair to knit *two* kittens (I swear I could brush her every single day and still get a ball of hair off her the size of my head)! I also brushed all the other cats and got a thimble full of hair to mix with Sammy's. I included a bit of hair in every card (I should have put more than a bit, but I didn't know I'd have enough to fill all 52 cards and *still* have enough left over to knit a kitten! ;> It may have fallen out when you opened the card?

Bettina - 07 Dec 2007 12:21 GMT > But has anyone gotten my Christmas card yet? > [quoted text clipped - 4 lines] > > See all my masters here:http://www.PossiblePlaces.com/CatNipped/ Hi Lori,
guess what - today I got your christmas card, and it is the one with the "Meow at the moon" -reference.
First, thanks a lot for this great card! Loved it. You did a tremendous job here.
Second - I have some old Black Sabbath vinyls and I loved to watch "The Osborne family" on MTVEurope. It was soo funny. Ozzy being a bit spaced out and all his family as well.<g> I like him. Good old time rocker. I wouldn`t have got the "Meow at the moon"- reference though if you wouldn`t have explained it here before, as nowadays I am not so involved in Ozzy`s music stuff. Liked one song though which was played on TV a lot, I think, last year, or the year before that. A very gentle song. Video shows him walking through a forest in winter or so. Liked that one.
Anyway - thank you very much. So nice to get cards from all around the world.

I had a ball making it (it's a big production for us year after year and costs a ton of money, but it's become my "thing" and my family starts asking me in early November when I'm going to be sending my cards out! ;>)

It sounds funny to think of someone thinking of the US as "all around the world" - people are so ego-centric, we all think that everywhere else is "the rest of the world" - and I think we in the US are the worst for that! ;>

Enfilade - 12 Dec 2007 01:13 GMT Smokey wants to know if Archer would like to be a backup dancer in his latest rap video.
(I really need to write a new Smokey Rap.)
Meanwhile, Nocturne says she can make sure Ozzy's tour is a success, and all he has to do is sign this scroll with a paw print. Catch is, it either has to be covered in his own blood...or some human's.
Run.

He's too chicken to use his own blood, and too laid-back and sweet to use human blood. Would a bat's blood do - he could bite the head off another bat (another Ozzy Osborne reference for those who aren't familiar with him)! ;>

I have such fun doing it that it doesn't seem like work. I do have to take about 200 pictures, though, to find the exact right ones I can use. Sometimes I look for pictures to illustrate the story line, sometimes I let the pictures dictate the story line - this year it was a combination of both.

I don't think people would want to buy cards to send out with somebody else's cats in them - and the cats wouldn't stand still for being dressed up for all the pictures I have to take to get the right ones (I take about 200 pictures every year at this time - sometimes I have a story line and I pick the pictures that illustrate it, sometimes I let the pictures determine the story line, this year I used a combination of both). I think the cats are already plotting to kill me in my sleep for this most recent humiliation! ;>
Of course, I could always go to other people's houses and photograph their cats for them, but *I* don't want to be the one to dress them up - I valued my arms and hands too much!

Lesley - 08 Dec 2007 19:53 GMT > But has anyone gotten my Christmas card yet? It probably says something about me that here we are on the 8th of December and thus far this household has recieved two cards
One from "Forbidden Planet" and one (along with a very nice calender) from my favourite local Indian takeaway- they've now given me a membership number so I only have to quote that and their computer knows where to send the goodies (I mean they are very good on the food front)

I know, but it's actually much better. The hematoma is almost gone. The ear would have been "cauliflowered" even if she had gotten the surgery, and as scared as she is of everything, I couldn't put her through that just to get rid of the hematoma a few weeks sooner.
