Vets in Toronto?

I vaguely remember that someone here lives in Toronto, but I'm afraid I
don't remember who. A friend of mine is living there at the moment. She
has adopted two cats from the HS. One of them, Keissa, had a bout of
vomiting that lasted a few days and Eva took him to the vet. The vet
gave an estimate of what all the testing would cost and Eva and her
husband were appalled at what he said. She also got the feeling that he
was running a lot of unnecessary tests. He also insisted on keeping the
poor cat at the surgery for several days.

If anyone here can recommend a good vet in Toronto, we'd be grateful.
It's not the money, but she just didn't feel like she could trust the
vet to have the best interests of the cat at heart. This Keissa
apparently was given up by his previous family because they couldn't pay
his vet bills.

there and maybe will have a recommendation. Poor kitty.

There was just a study on Market Watch (CBC consumer news) about vets across
the country. Ontario was the worst for hosing people. I can't recommend my
vet either.

Hi there - I've lurked here a couple years, & post from time to time on the
health & behavior group. I live in Toronto & have always had cats, 2 right
now, Coco & my monster tuxie, Little Devil. I can highly recommend the vet
practice I've been using the past 6 years, The Cat Hospital -  a cat only
practice with 2 vets - Drs. Susan Thomas & Dale Foley located (for those in
Toronto) in the Yonge/Bayview/Finch area , tel # 416-225-8851.

My gentle sweet Coco was given up 3 times by diffferent families who wouldn't
pay his vet bills - for ear mites & skin allergies ! On my vet's
recommendation, he gets DermCaps (some kind of supplement with ? Omega 3 oils?
) everyday & I've never had any trouble with him since I got him 5 years ago.
There are all kinds of people out there who are happy & quick to dump their
pets at the first sign of problems.

Lots of pictures of my cats on webshots,

Good luck, M.

Yes! Someone who takes as many pictures of their cats as I do! ;) They
are both absolutely gorgeous. And thanks for the recommendation! Sounds
like just the right kind of place.

You have many great pictures of your wonderful cats.

They are beautiful.

You have beautiful cats. Little Devil looks just like a neighbours cat and
she's a little devil too.

If your friend lives in the east end of Toronto or the suburb of
Scarborough, there's the Scarborough Animal Hospital on Kingston Road
a few blocks west of Midland Avenue. We've been going there for years,
and a family member worked there part time when she was going to
school. They've changed ownership recently, but we still go there for
shots and checkups for our three girls.

Thanks, bobcat! You're the one I was thinking of - I didn't remember
that Bill Stock also lives in Toronto. I'm sending her this
recommendation, too. She just mailed me that they live in Annex, Bloor
and Avenue. I don't know where that is in relation to this animal hospital.

Your friend lives right downtown in the heart of the city. The Cat Hospital
is in north part of the city, in Willowdale while the Scarborough Animal
Hospital is in the far eastern end of the city in Scarborough. The driving
time from your friend's location is more or less the same to both - about 25
minutes.
