Mistletoe, no longer the computer supervisor

It is with great regret that I must inform you that my sweet little
Mistletoe has abdicated her supervisory duties.  And that it's my fault.

A couple of weeks ago, I needed to retrieve some information from an old
computer of mine (couldn't read the backup diskette).  I set it up on my
computer table and that's when the problem started.  Prior to that, my
computer table had (left to right) my main monitor, a phone, a couple of
other small things, a swing-arm lamp, my system unit, and a printer.  In
front of the swing-arm lamp mounting bracket was a doubled fake
sheepskin and, on top of the sheepskin, a bath sheet (big towel) folded
in eighths.  This was the supervisor's spot.

Whenever I came down to the computer, Mistletoe assumed her supervisory
position on her padded perch.  I had maybe 15 seconds to put the lamp
right over her and turn it on.  Failure to do so elicited a piteous
Me-ow-ow-ow which continued until my oversight was rectified.

The old monitor claimed the supervisor's spot.  Missy was much
displeased when she came to claim her rightful spot and found a big
clunky thing in *her* place.

She would still come down when I did but only to tell me she needed to
go OWT (into a fully-fenced back yard and never unsupervised).  When the
big clunky thing took over her spot, she gave up after about 4 days and
didn't even look to see that it's no longer there.

So I'm left on my own downstairs now.  I hope she'll return to her
duties soon.

Oh dear....  I thought for a second....  and I hadn't even heard she
wasn't doing well...  GAH~~~, don't do things like that to my poor old
heart, please.

My gang, will of course send out purrs (and grunts) that Mistletoe
resumes her duties, poste haste

I thought the same thing as Annie for a minute!!! I'm glad it is only
an old computer. Though I do think you could have put up a tv tray for
it or something. How rude :D

Did she stare daggers through you at first?

Ya know, you shuddent begin a post like that!!  It could be hard on an
older, senior, well, my heart.  I was afraid I was going to hear something I
didn't want to.  Glad it was just a 'puter.

You scared me too, Sam. But that's almost as bad as switching from an
old monitor to a flat screen (or, in mky case, a laptop). I think Mir
still hasn't forgiven me for that. We're purring that Missy will forgive
you and return to her supervising duties post haste.

Don't scare people like that! I'm sure she'll be back.

How about picking her up and putting her back on her cozy sheepskin/towel
spot? :)

Tried that.  She couldn't jump down fast enough!  And then meowed her
extreme displeasure that anything had been allowed to take her
"throne's" spot.

I'm just hoping she comes around soon.

My heart froze as well reading the first lines of your post.
Then I had to laugh, realizing that it`s not only me who reserves
a nice blanket-spot on the desk for a little one.
Admittedly there are now two folded blankets on my desk, as
now in winter my sweeties are spending most of their time inside.

And - about the monitor thing - I would like to have flatscreen, but
then a nice cat-seat would vanish. So I stay with my old monitor.<sigh>

My husband built a wooden 'thing' (for lack of a better word) that fit
over my old monitor.  Mostly because after Tuppence (RB 2005) blew up
two other monitors, by vomiting on them, it was much more cost
effective.  Then when we went flat screen the wooden thing (looks like
a square inverted U, open front and back) stayed.  After all, it's a
perch and a dining table, and where Smeagol likes to lie while I'm
typing and try to catch that pointing finger thing (the cursor) when
it moves around.

this Queen cat stuff works.

Your title frightened me.  I thought she had died suddenly and my heart sank
with the thought of yet another RB kitty.
