My mother, Valerie, aged 88, has stomach cancer (diagnosis just
confirmed) which explains why she's been wasting away lately. Next
Wednesday she has a full series of scans to establish how far and how
wide it's gone & later we should learn whether she has day, weeks or
months left.
She's being very brave and positive about this, much better than me in
fact - now she's facing something fatal all the usual complaints &
gripes about hip, knee, bowels, etc., etc., have stopped. Which is
great but I'd rather it was for a different reason.
So if you have any spare purrs this Wednesday for her to be OK through
the travel & scanning process and for the results to show she has at
least a few months left, I'd sure appreciate it. For her to reach her
89th Birthday on 30th March while still relatively pain-free would be
a great result.
Blanket purrs back to everyone who needs them - I shan't be able to
post individually for a while as there's much to be sorted. She hasn't
even made a will yet as the (like many) clearly expected to be around
for ever :)

Lots of purrs on the way for your mother, Gordon. Don't give up hope, my
great aunt was diagnosed with cancer when she was 80 and after undergoing
extensive surgery went on to live until the day before her 100th birthday.

Many, many purrs on the way for your mother, Gordon. A relative of mine
succumbed to this last spring, and she was only 50-something. The C word
always is a shock.

I'm so very sorry to hear this, My mother is 85, and has been in poor
health for many years now.
I do hope that your mother has many months of quality time left, and
that you can convince her to make out a will.
If she doesn't, it will be very difficult for you.
Purrs are on the way for her to be as well as possible.

Gordon,
Purrs, prayers, and gentle headbutts on the way for you and your
mother during this difficult time. Having a goal, like her 89th
birthday will hopefully help your mother's will to survive which is a
huge part of the battle. Purrs that she is able to control her pain.
