I had promised myself never to take flashlight photos again, but Mir was
so cute, peeping out at me from the bridge part of the cat tree, and I
just had to have a pic. So this is her birthday portrait:

Meanwhile, Caliban was washing himself on the old (and very dilapidated)
cat tree:

While Mir has grown into a very elegant young lady, she has her goofy
moments. One evening as I was sitting in front of the TV, she was on top
of the cat tree. Suddenly her head popped down below the perch and
looked at me with a quizzical look on her face. I just had to laugh out
loud, she looked so funny. I didn't get a picture of that, but here she
is moments later, with her head still hanging over the edge:

Nice set of photos, baggy often hangs his head down like that when he's on
top of the cat tree.

He's such a handsome boy! BTW, it should be relatively easy to restore
the cat tree to its former glory. A roll of sissal rope and some glue
(or a nail gun, but I prefer glue) should do the trick. If you lived
nearby, I'd volunteer to fix it for you. :)
Cheers.

I wish you could do that, too! I've been thinking about stapling patches
over the holes, but not sure that would be a good solöution. I also
thought about ripping off all the carpet and putting the tree out in the
enclosure. We'll see.

If you do it with rope, it has to be very firmly rolled around the post,
and of course both ends well fastened. But you could also use a bit of
firmly woven carpet or the kind of carpet they use for interior
decoration of buses or even hotels, that should be sturdy enough as it
has to take a lot of traffic. Or "jutväv", a kind of coarse sack fabric,
a couple of layers around the post. It should be readily available at
this time of year.

Marina, you might think about getting some indoor/outdoor carpeting to
replace the old carpeting on the tree and then you could move the cat tree
inside or outside! I've replaced the carpeting on some of my cat trees with
this stuff and used a staple gun -- it works okay although over time the
cats manage to pluck the patches off, so maybe gluing it would be better.

See the thread 'Success!' :) She also got cooked turkey and some

Marina, such a sweet face -- love the portrait! I had lots of fun looking
ahead to the next piccies in your album, too. The upside-down Miranda shot
had me chuckling and scratching my head at the perspective till you
explained it!
