This just occurred. Mir was sitting at the door into the enclosure
(though it's -2 C outside, I've had the door open all morning) and a
Great Tit landed in the apple tree right outside the enclosure.

Tit: I'm out here and you're in there, nyah-nyah-nyah
Mir: Come here you little so-and-so
Tit: What are you gonna do about it? You're in a cage!
Mir: Why, I oughta...
Tit: <sing-song> You can't get me, you can't get me!
Mir: #&¤**@!!!
Miranda is now sitting in the middle of my kitchen table all hunched up
and very put out.

My Aries (RB) was great at what my mother calls "schnattering" where a cat
is trying to snarl at outside prey while its teeth are chattering hungrily.
The difference in the outcome in his case was that he'd let himself out
through the catflap (or have his slave open a door or window) and go after
said prey, which would have to fly off hurriedly.
Purrs for Mir's offended dignity since she can't get her revenge.

Excuse me? I know you northern buropeans are very cold-hardy, but -2C is
*very* cold!

I was working at home today and sat around in pyjama bottoms and
t-shirt. Bare feet. Door open. :) Miranda insists on having the door
open, so what can a mere catslave do? ;)

That's almost exactly how we started the day here. 31F (about 0C) but
brilliant sunshine and no wind at all. Dog and cats wanting in and out
access to the back yard more often than I'm feeling like walking over to the
door. Besides I'm in my jammies and slippers, drinking coffee and knitting
enjoying my morning. So the sliding glass door got left open wide enough
for Kayla, Jake and Molly for about an hour.
There is just no convincing them that those patches of sunshine they can see
outside aren't as warm as they look. I don't know, maybe if you have thick
fur and find the perfect spot and lie perfectly still, they are that warm.

I don't think it's all *that* cold. It's just below the freezing temp
for water. Of course, you Texans don't see water freeze except in the
refrigerator. :) Neither do we San Franciscans, but I did spend my
formative years, as well as many adult years, in Boston, where it often
goes far below freezing. So a day when the temperature is close to the
freezing point (or, from that perspective, the *melting* point) feels
pretty tolerable. At least your cheeks aren't getting chapped just from
standing outside!

used for Sunday night.

It's very cute. Dot also likes to say "Ack". Monty Python had the
Knights who say "Ni", but we have something even better - the girls
who say "Ack".

It is cold, cold, cold here after a welcome snow storm. This morning,
TuTu went to the patio door and asked to go out. I warned her that it was
20 degrees, but she insisted. I opened the sliding door and she went out
and looked around. She saw some snow at the end of the fence and went to
investigate. She took a good sniff then turned around and ran back to be
let inside. This all lasted less than two minutes. MLB
