It is hard learning to be a cat, but the rest of my crew have taken
the boys in paw and are teaching them to be good "cat citizens."  They
are almost weaned (Thank Bast!), and are growing like weeds. Ted is
over 3 lbs now, and Batley is about 2.5 lbs.  My 2.5 year old cat,
Jacob, is thrilled to have someone to play with, and they run him
ragged at times. It is a tag team effort. <G>  The other day my big
black boy, Boyce, decided it was time for them to learn what a
scratching post was for. He strolled over to the post, and got into a
good scratching position, then looked over his shoulder at Batley.
Bats then came over, and assumed the same position.  It was so cute.
Boyce weighs about 12 lbs, and is a very long cat. When Bats streched
out, he was about 1/3 the length of Boyce. Got a lot of growing to do
to catch up! They had a good scratch, and went their separate ways.

Batley likes to sleep with Rhiannon, and at first she didn't like it.
I was in my dining room a few days ago when I heard her fussing. It
sorta sounded like this: Yeowww, roww! Mrrrrr, rowww! mutter mutter,
hisssss. Yeow! I went to see what she was fussing about, and Batley
had climbed into her bed with her.  She fussed at him for a couple
more minutes - he ws sitting there being as cute as he could be. She
gave a big sigh, then started washing him. Her attitude was like "Oh,
well. If you must sleep with me, you will put up with a bath!" She
still fusses occasionally, but always gives in. The only one that
really doesn't like them is Kieri, but she didn't tolerate Jacob until
he was over a year old. She will get used to them.

I did a stupid thing the other day, and I was glad my DH was home to
help. The boys are put in a crate when we aren't there, and I usually
take off their collars before putting them to bed. This day, I was
running late and knew my DH would be up in about an hour, so I left
their collars on. Dave came down stairs, and went to let them out.
Teddy had somehow gotten his collar stuck in his mouth - it was
holding his mouth open and his chest was covered with drool. :( He
quickly took the collar off and checked him over, and he was ok. If it
had been a normal day, neither of us would have been home for 8.5
hours. Bast was watching him that day!

I was just over ran by kittens saying that they need to be fed NOW! I
will keep you updated as to how they are doing.

PS: I meantioned to my hubby that we should be finding them a new
home, and he said they already had a home - ours. He picks them up and
kisses them, cuddles them up and puts up with being used as a tree. I
think I keep him!

Oh, he definitely sounds like a keeper! :) So do the kittens. Lovely
stories. So cute with the scratching lesson and the before-bed bath.

That's adorable! I know cats learn by copying each other, but it must
have been really sweet to see a lesson being deliberately taught.
