Hi, my name's Marina, and I'm a bubblaholic.

Yes, I'm sad to announce that this computer blonde figured out how to
play the game, and in spite of all the warnings posted here, I succumbed
to its lure. However, I will never reach the high points others do,
because I have to stop and watch the pretty bubbles go pop pop-pop
pop-pop-pop-pop-pop before I can shoot the next one.

And I will always remember who inflicted this pain on me, because I
haven't bookmarked the page; each time I feel the urge to play, I have
to go search for Bev's original post to get the URL. I wish now that I
hadn't reminded you of the tinfoil, Bev.

I hate that game. I literally curse it! I haven't solved it yet, and
was quite amazed to read that some actually have! I'd like to
dedicate a web page for those who are addicted to send their bubbel
tactics, some hints, some strategies, and how they pull themself away
from it to go to bed at night. It's evil I tell you.

Hey Marina, so far it is working, 'the tinfoil' lol.

I haven't bookmarked the bubble page either and keep going back to my
original posting, I'm trying to go cold turkey and make it hard for
myself going back to the game.  I have only ever finished it once and
for some reason keep bombing out at 3 or 4 thousand. groaning as another
bubble fit consumes me.

I'll only play for half an hour
I'll only play for half an hour
I'll only play for half an hour

Bev,

You'll always hold a special place in my heart for introducing Joel and I to
Bubbels. It therefore gives me *great* pleasure to dedicate this to you:

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Hmmmmmmmmmmm, 'with eyes glazed', badger, badger,
badger, mushroom, mushroom, mushroom, this is the end, the final
curtain.   I have just planted a plant called Trillium Chloropetalum
which came to me from the Mothership. help me, I am confused and am
putting a hex on Yowie's bubbles, hummmmmmmmmmmm, hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm -
neither she or Joel will ever solve it, hummmmmmmmmmmmmm,
hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, it is decreed.

Briefly back to sanity, a small score must be better.  I think a large
score is simply an endurance test, lol.  How many have had that time
clock come up on the bottom, left hand side at the end I wonder.

Ah, the lucky individual who can ask this question. Dave, don't ask!
If you don't ask, you won't know.

Reminds me of something a recovered junkie wrote (paraphrasing): "I
envy people who've never tried heroin, because they DON'T KNOW what
it's like. I have to live for the rest of my life, knowing what that
was like, and knowing I can never have that again..."

OK, a slightly overblown analogy, perhaps. :)

Bev posted the web site for a rather addictive game that most of us are
wasting lots of time on.  http://193.151.73.87/games/bubbels.swf

I figure that the more share the grief, the better.

Yesterday, I didn't play the game at all, and today, only twice. I might be
in recovery.
I think the first few days are the worst.  I also have to get Bev's post to
play it.  Bast help me if I had bookmarked it.

Joel wishes to know whether getting a low score is in fact a better show of
skill than getting a higher score in Bubbels if you actually finish the
game.

While I have gotten humungous scores in the 80k+ region, I still haven't
managed to get anywhere close to finishing, the best I've been able to do is
the emimination of one colour only.

And since we only have one computer at home, Bubbels is causing some
interesting domestic "discussions" as to whose turn it is for their next
fix.

Bev, I hereby curse you with interesting cats!

I have wondered the same thing. And, wondered if it should be added
to the thesis. As to Bev's said thesis post, my gremlins aren't print
worthy. lol Just must add the "sudden intake of breath, like an
abrupt sigh that means I didn't mean to do that! Can I take it back"
gremlin.

OK, please help out a beginner at the game.  When I start a game, a
couple of shots will be fine, but then some of the bubbles I have to
shoot don't have two of the same color together for me to pop.  I try
to put an 'unmatched' shooter next to at least one of the same color
so I'll have a future target, but then I start to lose turns and the
whole game goes out the window.  Any tips?

If you can't place a bubbel so that it pops others, you are best off placing
next to one of its own colour so that when a second of that colour turns up,
you can shoot the two that are already together. *However* have a think
about it it first as you don't want to completley block a nice big clump of
the same colour with an unmatched bubbel, and just remember you can get rid
of unmatachable bubbels by shooting other bubbels so they become completley
detached fromthe rest. If you are *really* stuck and there is no bubbel of
that colour to pair your bubbel with, or any placement will block another
set, then the best place to put an orphan bubbel is right at the side or in a
palce that within the next few shots will become detached from the rest of
the group.

When the game starts on the 6th unmatched bubble, an extra line will appear
at the top of the play area and all the bubbels will move down one line. it
then happens on the 5th bubbel after that, then the 4th, then the 2nd, then
the 1st. It then resets itself to the 6th bubble again, but this time you
get *two* extra lines. It goes through the process again and then you get
three extra lines etc etc.

Good observations! I noticed that sometimes I could get away with shooting
more unmatched (non-popping) bubbles than I could other times, before
incurring the wrath of the BubbleMaster, who retaliates by giving me more
bubbles to pop. I thought this was merely random. Also, I did notice that
sometimes it was one new line, and other times two, and just thought it
depended on the Master's mood. :) (Yes, I have personnified the game. Yes,
that is probably a sign of encroaching delusion and eventual insanity.)

I'm glad somebody here is paying attention! Though I'm not sure what
you mean by "when the game starts on the 6th unmatched bubble". Doesn't
the game start only once, with all the parameters starting out in the
same way?

"when the game starts on the 6th unmatched bubble" is actually a horrible
peice of editing I didn't catch before I sent it. I meant:

"When the game starts, you can shoot 5 unmatched bubbles before anything
happens. On the 6th unmatched bubble....".

This is what happens when youstart writing a message, get interrupted (by
oh, I dunno, an irresistable urge to play some silly computer game) and then
come back to it with a slightly different train of thought.

Ah ha. That makes much more sense, thanks!

By the way, when I was reading your message, the following line:

> This is what happens when youstart writing a message, get interrupted (by

was at the bottom of my screen. So I didn't see what you were being
interrupted *by* until I got the next screenful:

Gee, and here I thought you were going to say "...get interrupted by
a howling bare kitten who needs his mommy." But no, instead it was
"Bubbel". That's scary, Yowie!! :)

The whole game and the resulting addiction is scary!!!!

I've been playing it for what seems like forever and still havent' cleared
it. I mean, I was even playing it a 4:30am this morning (as bridget can
attest to) and *still* haven't beaten it. Argh!!!!!!

Yowie
I was up at 4:30am because of the Yowlet, *not* Bubbels, honest!
