I once had a cat who managed to open a metal breadbox with a spring-closed
pull-down lid to get an entire loaf of bread. The bread was in a plastic
bag with a tie at the end. He chewed holes all over the bread. When I
found him with it, I yelled at him and threw the bread out in the trash. A
few minutes later I heard a noise in the kitchen, and when I went to
investigate, I found him dragging the bread back in through the cat door.

Caliban is just like that. This is one reason why I had to put baby
locks on the cabinet under the sink, where the bins are. If he could get
to them, he would pull out everything even remotely edible (to his
thinking).
