Something neat about my Thanksgiving

We are spending Thanksgiving with a lady who has a cat that is very special
to this group.  In 2002 we had a member called Aim who had found a little
siamese kitten in a tree.  Said kitten was chased up there by dogs and was
terrified.  Aim couldn't keep her--she already had too many cats already.
(hard to believe that there is such a thing, but there you are) and she
couldn't find the owner of the kitten anywhere.

I have a friend here in Arizona who really wanted a Siamese or Burmese cat.
She was settled in a new home and her life had become stable enough for a
pet.  Well she was very interested in this kitten that Aim had but Aim was
in Seattle and we are in Phoenix Az.

With the help of this group, we all pitched in and got the kitten spayed(now
named Princess Alexandria)  and found her transportation to Phoenix.

While the Princess was en route to her new home we had a "kitten shower" for
her-- complete with a kitty litter cake.  We got her toys and scratch trees
and a litter box and feeding bowls.  And we played kitty games.

Then the Princess arrived.

She has turned out to be a beautiful girl.  The little bedraggled kitten is
now fat and sassy and looks Burmese.  She chases and fetches and holds regal
court in her livingroom.  My friend is a very social person and has many
people in and out of her home.  The Princess greets them all in her special
chair that she has designated as her greeting throne.  When we go over there
today for Thanksgiving dinner she will perch on my knee and give me "the
look" that means that I am being given the royal command to play with her.

Vivian says that we could not have found her a more perfect cat.  Vivian has
had a heart attack and quadruple bypass surgery in the past 5 years as well
as other health problems and the Princess has always been there to take care
of her.  Vivian is Princess's special person and the family joke is that
Vivian's husband is merely "better than nothing"--his company is only
acceptable when Vivian is not around.

So today I will be thinking of an orphaned and sad kitten who was given a
wonderful home because of this group.  We'll get some pictures and post them
after Christmas for everyone to see.

Oh wow!! That's terrific! I'm so glad to hear how well she is!

Top-posting because I don't want to snip... I wouldn't know WHERE to
snip from this wonderful story.

This just brought tears to my eyes, Hazel. It's the sweetest thing I've
heard in a long time, and is a perfect Thanksgiving story.

I LOVE the idea of the kitten shower!! What a great idea for someone
who's getting their first cat, or their first cat in a long time and
doesn't have the stuff they need.

Please give Princess Alexandria some happy skritches for me. I'll look
forward to the pictures. And have a nice holiday.

Thank you for posting this.  I remember part of the discussions concerning
transportation for the kitten.  I think that was shortly after I started
posting to this newsgroup.  This a great update to see on Thanksgiving Day.

My dear friend Hazel, you've just completed my Thanksgiving. Thank you.

And my dear friend Aim, if you're reading this, lots of hugs for you and
those close to you. :)

I was here when that happened. I helped out some with the expenses.

It's wonderful to hear about the little kitten who traveled so far, to
find the perfect home! And, it does sound perfect.

Princess Alexandria sounds like a wonderful cat.

I am really looking forward to seeing some pictures!

Oh, I'd forgotten about Princess, but when you mentioned the kitty
litter cake, it all came back to me! So glad to hear she is doing so
well and is receiving proper adoration from her current slave.

How neat!  Great!  Thanks for sharing the story of the little rescued
kitten, Hazel!

Thank you so very much Hazel for telling us "the rest of the story!"  What a
beautiful and wonderful story. I often wonder, too, about Jack, a kitty that
we had to transport quickly because he was in danger of being physcially
harmed by the male partner of hs owner who was very ill. He went by arranged
van to a home in another state that had a similar cat, black, male name Jax.
We were sent a picture of the two of them and it was sooooo sweet! RPCA is a
wonderful, warm, careing, loveing, understanding, supportive group, when you
need something some one of us is there and you are there for us too. Thank
you.
