We just got back form the doctor's. She didn't seem overly concerned right
now. He is going for a colonoscopy next week just to be sure there isn't
anything wrong. It was more his choice than the doctor telling him he had to
have one.

He is feeling much better now. He always calls me from work just before his
lunch. On Monday he calls and tells me he is feeling better so we can cancel
the doctor's appointment. NO, we my response. You are going to get this
checkd out.

Thanks again for the purrs.

A colonoscopy is a very good idea, especially if he hasn't had one in the
last five years or so.  The prep is no fun, but neither is worrying about
what might be wrong.

I'm scheduled in December.

I haven't had one yet. I hear you're supposed to start at age 50, and
get your first baseline colonoscopy. But I have Kai$er, and they don't
start people until they're 60. Up until then, it's the flexible sig.
Which is certainly far less unpleasant, but it doesn't go as far up the
colon, so it could miss some cancer. They're just cheap, is all there
is to it. That really burns me up.

I am glad everything is doing better.

Tell Peter  have a good attitude going in for that procedure.  I had the
staff laughing so hard that it covered  my embarrassment.  I think doing my
best Captain Kirk voice telling them that they are going where no man has
gone before had them going.

The prep is not that bad   chicken broth only for 24 hours before.  A bunch
of women going in and out while your backside is exposed   The after is the
worse  make sure no one is smoking it will be definitely a 3 stooges moment.

You know there is something called a virtual colonoscopy which is non
intrusive

this is a general link  but something to check out.  My insurance covered
it

Some other info for you all

Colonoscopy Prep - Colonoscopy Preparation
When you are preparing to have a colonoscopy, your doctor will provide you
with a list of things you can do in order to prepare for the procedure. It
is important to follow the instructions carefully, as they will help your
body to be ready for the colonoscopy and will also make it possible for you
to get through the actual procedure with flying colors.
One of the most important things to remember during colonoscopy prep /
colonscopy prepration is that your doctor will want you to refrain from
using aspirin for some period of time before the day of your colonoscopy. In
most cases this will be in the range of three to five days. The idea is to
help reduce the potential for bleeding in the event that polyps are found
and need to be harvested for a biopsy.
Another important factor during colonoscopy prep / colonoscopy prepration
will be your diet. Your doctor will most likely give you a list of low fiber
foods that you may enjoy for one to three days before your colonoscopy. This
does not mean that you mix these in with all your other favorites. Instead,
you will rely greatly on this list to select the foods you will eat during
this time. The idea is to ensure the colon is not hampered with the presence
of any matter that may impact the colonoscopy itself; basically, if there is
nothing in the colon at the time of the procedure, you will be much better
off.
No doubt your doctor will give you a cutoff point the day before on eating
any type of food. This again is to ensure the colon is not compromised with
the presence of any solid matter. You will not doubt be given liquid
electrolytes or something similar to drink during this period. Yes, it will
be a lot to drink, but you will be able to get it all down. Be prepared for
the fact that the stuff will taste nasty, in spite of the fact that it comes
in several different fruit flavors. Despite the taste and the quantity,
drink up and remember it will make the actual procedure run much more
smoothly.
One other important point to remember when undertaking colonoscopy
preparation. You will not be in any condition to drive after the procedure,
so make sure a loved one goes with you and is there to get you back home.
For the remainder of the day, you will be instructed to rest. If at all
possible, make sure someone can remain in the house with you, on the off
chance that you begin to run a fever or perhaps experience dry heaves or
another delayed reaction to the anesthesia.
By understanding the basic nature of a colonoscopy, and what you should do
in the event you need to have one performed, you will be in the position to
make sure that your colonoscopy experience goes smoothly and with no
complications.
