WOO HOO!!  Concatulations and a happy dance for you all.  It is hard
work to be that good, and you did it!  Now I expect Lee to win that
award next year.  You ROCK GIRLS!!

I seriously think they draw straws and I won.  They had presented several
awatds and when thery got to this one, I leaned over to Lee and said "this
will be another DORK we have never heard of!".  There are a lot of new
folks.

Stop being so modest!  Some employers are reluctant to have people with
sight difficulties on their staff.  They seem to think that we (yes, include
me) cannot do a *real* job.   Many congratulations on your award.
I was lucky to be already employed by the government when I started to have
serious problems with my eyes. Under our (UK) Disability Discrimination Act
it would have been illegal if they had said "we don't want you any more."
So they had to spend megabucks on special equipment for me and now I am able
to do my job as well as I did before.
They were supposed to provide a taxi to and from work for me in the darkest
days of the winter because I cannot see in the dark now, but I just reduced
my hours to 9-3.30.  I was working full time until then.
It will affect my pension.  I just thought "I have been working full time
since I was 15, take this opportunity to give yourself a break"
My pension will depend on the hours I worked in the last 2 years before
retirement. I have a way to go yet, but what I might do is to to insist that
in those last two years I get that taxi.  I declined it before, because the
financial contribution I would have to make towards it cancelled out what I
would earn for two days.

it will NEVER happen, I am not well loved by the state staff, and I am much
less adept at holding my tong which makes me err uncooperative... and I m
far less diplomatic than Gramby, Lee

Congratulations to Gramby. Having been named "worst person to try to
manage" several times, I know how it feels.

Let the happy-dance begin.
