Just when i think a stubborn old girl like Sabrina won't pick up on something,
she turns around and surprises me.

The other day I gae her a pick-up and shifted her in my arms. Instead of
flopping over my shoulder, she put one arm around my neck and stayed there
awhile. Cute as hell, and I thought a one-timer. But no. Sabrina has learned
to hug, something I'm not sure she'd ever seen befroe comeing here. I'd been
told she started out as a companion to an old fellow in a nursing home, who
didn't get company and whose sole comfort was having her lie on his chest and
give little kisses. Sabrina did that with us from the beginning. With Richard
and his live-in, siphon-the-SSI-benefits person, there was no show of
affection; the poor, dimwitted girl was nothing more than a meal ticket. So
when I got another cat hug, with a rumbling purr to go with it, we figured
Sabrina learned it from us.

Now Louie and I pick her up and she naturally puts her arms around our necks,
the sweet little lady. The poor baby must have been starving for affection
after her old man died. I don't know if she ever hugged him, but I hope he
knows she must have loved him. Our little Matron is possessed of a love
bigger than her tiny kitty body, so she must spread it around!

Blessed be,
Baha

Sabrina is channeling Smokey (RB).  He used to get in Ramona's (DW) lap
every time she sat in her recliner.  Within 5 minutes he would have one
foreleg on either side of her neck and push his face into hers.  If DW
wasn't home and he was "in the mood", he would give me the same
treatment.  We sure miss the old codger.

Your post is really sweet but it brought tears to my eyes.
