Hi All
Ages and ages ago I asked for purrs for my friend Matt, the man who is
living proof bad things happen to good people. At the time, his sister
had just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and things looked grim.
Following a good dose of purr therapy she recovered enough to have
many more months than expected
Alas she passed on yesterday morning
Matt also has worries about his elderly dad who is not very well as
well as major health worries of his own and is about to be made
homeless along with his mate Tony and their owner Fuzzbutt
So any purrs that can be spared would be appreciated
Lesley

Many thanks to all
I am disgusted! Basically Matt is an epileptic- he went a good few
years without a fit through previously it had cost him his home and
his marriage
About 2 years ago he got a medication combination that worked for him
and as a result he has been able to work again through in a low paid
job for the local council. He's been living in a shared house owned by
a friend's mum who seems to be an excellent housekeeper- as in when
she got divorced she kept the house
Now she has got a new man and wants the house back, which she in
entitled to do. As a result possibily of being faced with homelessness
and his sister dying Matt's fits have come back. A week ago, he had
such a bad one at work that he split a heavy table with his head and
spend 2 days in hospital with concussion. His consultant thinks he may
have had a mini stroke as well....
So he presented himself to the local council (the same one he works
for) as a case for housing, He can't afford private renting on his
salary (the house share was cheap), he's vulnerable as Hell with his
medical history (backed up by letters from his consultant) so he is a
case for rehousing
They say he's not...
Hugh (Slave of Chloe, Tigger and Bandit) has a friend who is a
councillor for the area and Hugh took the details to him and the guy
said the council doesn't have a homeless problem because they
"gatekeep" it. i.e. in order to look good the only people they would
consider for emergency rehousing would probably have to be terminally
ill, severely disabled and have 10 disabled children. It's not
official policy but the housing department apply it so the figures
look good
Hold on.....I know some of this stuff- I got Dave rehoused as an
emergency case when we first met (Some of our dates were very dull!)
Excuse me while I google legistration and purr I can find it

Good news!
Matt took the information I dug out for him to some people who were
working on his behalf and he's now been told he does qualify for
priority rehousing. He still has to wait to see if the council's own
doctors will treat him as vulnerable, which would help him get sorted
a lot faster but that could take 8 weeks while they get the stuff for
his own doctors directly (even through they provided him with the
relevant letters) and he has managed to persuade his landlady not to
kick him out on the streets untilt 8 weeks time
So please purr for him
