Hope at least the kitties are starting to calm down!

What a mess! I hope it gets cleaned up and repaired post haste. And a pox
on those (obviously disgruntled) ex- neighbors! No consideration for the
other tenants when the wreaked havoc in that manner. Hope the landlord sues
them for a ton of money! (and I'm not a litigious person)

Ditto! I can't believe that someone would be scummy enough to do that
to the innocent people who have to live in the building... it doesn't
really hurt the management company (I'm sure they have insurance for
that sort of thing) but it really sucks for you and the other tenants!
Many purrayers for things to get back to normal as quickly and
smoothly as possible...

I suspect their insurance will balk since they were negligent in discovering
the problem.

The heck with the landlord. He could have mitigated the damages and should
have by doing an inspection.
The other tenets are the ones who should be paid damages. If not by the
prior tenets then by the landlord.

The landlord isn't going to get a thing except cost of repairs, Jo. The
tenants are due repairs and possibly living in a motel a few weeks during
the repairs, but nothing else.
The acts of the prior tenants will only be recovered via a successful
lawsuit brought by the landlord against them, assuming he can find them.
Otherwise, yes, insurance will pay for the damage. Might even pay for the
tenants to be put up someplace like a motel while repairs are being done.
But don't look for punitive damages to be awarded for the tenants for pain
and suffering any time soon. Doesn't work that way.

Oh, what a doleful look! I hope you can get some sort of recompensation
from those ex-neighbours, for aches and pains to you and your cats.

OMG. OMG!! You haven't got to pay to get this repaired yourself, have you?
Apart from the awfulness of finding your home in such destruction, of
course..
Home is precious, a safe place to return to. To have it damaged is
traumatic, and for it to be done deliberately - well - words fail me.
(there's a first then ;-) )
Purrs that your home will soon be nice and comfy for you again. I'd also
like a little bit of revenge to land on the perpetrators via the legal
system.
