WOOHOO! We have the power back on!

But the maintenance guy gave me more info on what happed:

The slow trickle of water into plugged sinks was just the least of it. It
seems the neighbor also pulled the hot water line out from under one sink,
attached a sprayer on the end, and basically had steaming mist spraying the
apartment. Our maintenance guy was the one who had to enter the apartment
with protective gear, after they broke into the apartment. Seems the
neighbor went to the trouble of changing the locks too.

All done and said, while I have a really low opinion of the neighbor now,
I have an even lower opinion of the management for not catching this via an
immediate vacancy inspection.

I am pissed off that I will lose a day's salary to deal with this (no
vacation days earned yet), that our household was disrupted over it and
that the cats are nervous and/or scared. I am thankful that the cats think
to come to me for reassurance, but I am very angry that even ONE of my cats
was trembling in fear. I suspect that Bucky was close to one of the ceiling
collapses when it happened.

Anyway, I've managed to get things more organized, damp clothing dried and
supper started. I had to take a computer to the computer doctor to find out
why it no longer works (my guess is excessive moisture in the circuits...).

Hugs and Purrs,
Mark

I certainly hope the owner files a complaint against those ex-tenants and
that they are charged with vandalism, convicted and receive a stiff
sentence.

Or how about a civil suit, so Mark can get back his day's salary, cost
of computer repair, and other costs. I'll bet other tenants had problems,
too. (Or are there only 2 apartments?)

Pretty sure they'll never make THAT mistake again. Wow. What a mean person.

Incredible. Many purrs on the way for your household to return to normal
soon. Poor kitties.

Just how childish *was* this neighbor?  I hope the landlord tracks them down
and sues the pants off of them.  Criminal destruction of property.

Why did they need protective gear?

Well, one thing is for certain.  If and when the apartment management
tracks down the former tenants, they won't have much trouble proving that
deliberate vandalism was done, and not just absent-mindedness.  The
former tenants might try to claim that they had forgotten about the sink
drain, but there is no legitimate explanation for the water-sprayer
arrangement.
