I am needing some for my Phantom and the rest of the pack Please. I has
been a very rough morning
Below is what is going on with replies I sent to everyone so far.
I HAD TO RUSH PHANTOM TO THE 24 HOUR VET CLINIC.
SOMETHING HAPPENED WHERE HE WENT RUNNING THRU THE HOUSE LIKE HE WAS IN A CAT
FIGHT. HISSING SCREAMING CATERWAULING LIKE HE WAS FIGHTING or SOMETHING. I
WENT out to find out what was wrong and ended up chasing him thru the house
where him and Rumble tangled but I think it was from being to close he ended
up in the front window in the curtains. I grabbed him to calm him down and
to see what was wrong. I got many war wounds from it. I got him in a
carrier to separate him. He was still growling and fussing for a little
while. I called the clinic to tell them I was coming. He calmed down a bit
and actually purred but when I opened the cage to touch him he was fine
till I touched his back legs. He growled a little bit at me. So we rushed
him to the vet we got there nothing was wrong you could touch him with no
problems. He was able to walk. Did discover a minor heart murmur but he
is 13 going on 14. The exam turned up nothing. So fine observe him tonight
if an problems take to regular vet in morning. Who will be called first
thing when he opens here today.
Well we get home let him out. No problems I go to find all the cats since
it was a scary moment for them. I found rumble right off. He walked by
Phantom no aggression. Ka'Shay came out of hiding but still is very
nervous. Found spirit hiding under my bed scared sh@tless. Phantom came in
the room saw Spirit and it started all over again. He took off doing the
same thing as above. Spirit got under the rest of the bed and urinated all
over himself. I got a hold of him and cleaned him up as best I could.
Cleaned up the mess what I could. I took him in the bathroom. He was
scared motionless while I ran the water over his back end. He gave me a
look of pure fear. I have never seen that before. I put him in the
bathroom to calm down a bit so I could go and find Phantom who was hiding
under a bed. He was growling and hissing for awhile finally talked him out
put him in the carrier which he was doing his best to get out. I decided to
get spirit out of the bathroom and let him run loose and put Phantom in the
bathroom with a litter pan for the night. Spirit is under mom's be scared
out of his mind. Ka'shay is hiding somewhere. Limo is hiding under the same
bed as spirit. Rumble is somewhere.
I have no idea why this started to night none of them are aggressive
towards on another. They were all fine before hand.
I don't know if they saw another cat thru the window but they have never
been like this before when we had tom's coming around. I am hoping for a
calmness in the morning.

I just woke up and checked here. Rumble is fine he only got into with
phantom when Phantom went rampaging thru the house and ran into him. I
managed to get Spirit out from under the bed for a few minutes got him to
cam down till he heard Phantom in the Bathroom. I went to check on Phantom
and he started hissing and growling before I even reached down. Spirit ran
back under the bed scared to death. I am trying to get a hold of the vet to
get in today.
I don't know if he did but it has been almost 8 hours since Phantom should
have calmed down by now

Thanks Helen but the vets thinks it might be worse than that. I just got
back from the vet. I have phantom separated in the bathroom. He will be in
there for the next couple days till this is worked out. The vet took blood
and is doing a full work up. He thinks if it is not behavioral it might be
thyroid. He did detect the heart murmur in Phantom
Spirit is still hiding and has not eaten. I have never seen him this scared
before. Rumble ate this morning but went back into hiding. Ka'shay is
hiding. Limo I is back out doing her thing but is anxious. I gave phantom
some food just a minute ago. I know he will eat.
I already talked to the vet he said if it is behavioral Phantom will
probably be put on valium. He recommended Feliway but as we all know it
takes time to work. I have already looked at get a large kennel where I can
keep Phantom and dumplin' apart if I need to put Phantom to be permanent
separate from the rest of the pack.

Thank you It has been a very rough day. Rumble, Limo, Spirit and Ka'Shay
are hiding in other rooms and not coming out. I let Phantom out into the
bedroom where the bathroom is. He is hungry and wanting attention. I am
hoping this is over quickly

Thanks Debbie I hope it is a very simple solution to deal with. In all the
years of being owned by cats this have never happened

An the purring will continue for you all. What a devil of a morning!
Hopefully it's just a wild hair someone got and this mess will sort itself
out.
I have heard that some cats do well on a little speck of Valium; and while
not actively trying to promote chemical enhancement, it has worked just fine
on me and Stosh and Brandy think I'm a cat, therefore... (insert smart@$$ed
but well-meaning grin here!)
Blessed be,

Thank you Baha Spirit, Rumble and ka'shay made a visit to where I am. To
get some scritches, some treats and to let me know they were here. They are
all still nervous walking near the door where Phantom is behind. Limo is
still a no show but that is not unnatural for her.
In fact spirit just came in and rubbed my leg. his tail is finally
sticking straight up instead of being between his legs

I only got home a little while ago and had a phone call and then checked
in here. I am really hoping this was just a crazy set of circumstances
and the cats just gave each other a bad scare. I really hope there is
not a medical problem at the root and that Phantom is fine. That is what
I will cross my fingers for at any rate.

One of my sister's cats is a bit neurotic. She has to rub a little bit of
tranquilizer cream onto his ears every night. I think it is Valium-based.
If she forgets to medicate him, he will react to items that aren't in
their usual location by peeing on them, even though he has been neutered.

The drugs were way to powerful for him. I have to hope the medicine
regulates everything. He has had two episodes since the first both very
minor.
Thanks for the info

Oh, Matthew, that is scary. I am sending a loud chorus of purrs from my
crew (who occasionally get nasty, but usually co-exist quite fine). I
hope it was just something specific that set it off, and that you can
solve the problem.

Thanks Ginger I let Phantom out here a few minutes ago. Just to see there
was no loud caterwauling just some hissing and growling. A lot of tension.
I am watching them with a filled long distance shooting water bottle.
What I am thinking is that Phantom and spirit were both in the window.
Something happened and those two got into it when Phantom ran into Rumble
who gets easily excited due to his epilepsy Rumble jumped in. I still don't
know what the trigger was. But there is a lot of tension but no fights yet.
If it gets any where close he will go back in the bathroom

One time this happened with Pearl and Grant and I just had to
"re-introduce" them again, keeping them separted the majority of the
time and slowly having them out together. It didn't take too long for
things to return to normal. Well, normal for them. Then it happened one
more time when I accidentally stepped on Pearl's tail and she yelled.
It set Grant, a normally really placid guy, off on her again, but I got
them *very quickly* separated and that calmed down in a day. Purrs that
this is resolved.

Did you try "scent transfer"? Might be worth a try. MLB

Yes I did as soon as he saw them he started hissing and growling. I will
try again tonight I got a pair of shorts that I wore while I worded out.
That should give them a good smell ;-)
I hope the blood work comes back today and tells us what is up..
I had to put him back in the bathroom about a half and hour after I let him
out. His growling was scaring spirit but the good sign is he did not go
whacko.
I am going to ask the vet for some valium to help calm him down.
I have to do something. It is going to drop in temperature to night and I
have to bring Dumplin in and there will be no where to keep them all
separate.

Suggestion: Re: scent transfer. Try rubbing him (if you can) then
transfer HIS smell to the other cat. This is just an opinion and I have
never had the occasion to try it. Purrs that something good will come of
this experience. MLB

misplaced agression. I hope you get it figured out.

Thanks Karen. I have been very upset about this. I listened to him last
night call out wonder where every one was. Every time I said something to
him or saw him it just got worse. <tears>
Spirit is just a nervous wreck
