LOL, I've got plenty of family members living there as well. We often
argue about who lives in the kookiest state. Different kinds of kooks,
to be sure, but we're trying to establish *degree* of kookiness. After
all, I live in a state that elected the Terminator as governor. Then
again, they have Jeb. I think I'll take Arnie, but not by a lot. :)

Hee hee hee. :D

It is sure interesting driving down I-95.  It's about equally divided
between fake-tanned lipo addicts flying by at about  95, and the grannies on
phone books, tootling long at about 45, and the semis in between.  Of course
the fake-tanned lipo addicts are often grannies, too. :P

I have grown to really love Florida, though, although I had serious culture
shock when Dad first moved down there.  I get kind of freaked out for a
couple of hours, but once I get out on the patio with a mojito, it's
smooooooooth sailing. ;)  Helloooo. little geckos!!!!  ;)

Well there you go. Shows you what I know!! (He did have 2 terms, though,
right? I just thought the 2nd term was still going.)

Absolutely! Especially the further south you go.

Well, when it comes to nature, Florida is beautiful. Well, except for
hurricanes. :) But you can't beat the beaches and the balmy winters.
But I refuse to visit my family during the warmer months. The latest
(of the spring months) I've gone there was April, and that was pushing it.
The ideal time, IMO, is January. People are still recovering from holiday
travel so nobody's visiting Florida then. And it's not Spring Break yet.
March isn't bad, either. I definitely owe my family a visit this coming
winter because I didn't make it back there last year.

Sounds like a Zombie movie. I belong to a Yahoo Group for movie
lovers. Two of the "guys" keep coming up with Zombie movie ideas.
Naked Zombie Cheer Leaders Showering is a recurring theme. Now we're
discussing Johnny Depp as a vampire. We ladies are participating in
this one ;o)

My parents live in Florida too. No they're not Zombies.

The Australians got them first - known as "cane toads" there.

One of the funniest films I have ever seen is an Australian
documentary, "Cane Toads: An Unnatural History", about what
the toads have done to Australia and what the Australians
are doing to them.  Maybe my favourite scene was the very,
very old couple who looked rather toadlike themsleves talking
about how they enjoyed sitting out on their lawn on warm
nights listening to the toads mating.

They are also a big problem in Australia, where they are known as cane
toads.

there is another problem that the article does not talk about. Here in
Florida the news media are not allowed to report how illegal products are
made or used such as crack etc.  The article does not report that young
people are licking the toads to get high off the milky white substance that
it excretes.  The media adopted a rule a few years ago when abc news
reported about the angel trumpet flower and how people got high using it.
Well they reported it wrong and it led to several deaths and comas.  It is
start even thought you can go on the internet and find out how to do
anything.

Luckily these things are not near me yet
