How is everybody?
We're doing good. I'm still limping a bit from that broken leg nonsense back in May but the second surgery to remove two of my nine screws helped lots :). I wouldn't recommend twisting your leg underneath the bottom step on a porch as you fall. :p
Ian's getting so big. He just turned 18 months old and adores his daddy. Jody doesn't travel anymore. I don't think he's spent more than two nights out of town in the last six months. Abi had a rough start to the school year but it's solved itself when we discovered she has mild ADD and is taking a low dose of Stratterra for it. (Yes I know the anti-depressant child nightmare stories, it's an extremely low dose, not one of those that has contributed to an actual suicide and she's pre-pubescent without the teenage hormones to interact with the medication. We're watching her extremely closely for it to change from a wonder drug into something else. Took me two days of googling before I filled that prescription *grin*)
We're leaving for Disney World this Wednesday. Mutt's doing well and has no idea she's won a stay at the luxurious vetspa. I expect I'll be alternately ignored and bitten repeatedly upon my return because she remains as bitchy as ever. She's slowed down but her latest vet visit has her with all healthy teeth, a teensy bit anemic and otherwise fine health. At eleven the anemia is supposed to be a bit normal. Her weight's great and I expect we'll have her another three or four years. She doesn't bark at everything anymore however. She still enjoys looking out the window all day so I know her eyesight is fair. She hasn't slowed down in the "I'm so old" way but rather "yeah yeah, seen it, barked at it, and now it's boring" stage. If she's more than 50 yards away however, she has to hear you before she recognizes you completely. I think it's not blindness, but just like humans her vision has gotten blurry. She still plays like a puppy when the kids are quiet.
*hugs* to everybody and purrs and prayers to those that need them. If I don't make another post before the Holidays, everybody have a Happy Thanksgiving, Wonderful Yule, Happy Hannakuh and Merry Christmas, and lovely New Year. :)

She's dainty and regal and very queenlike but unfortunately she doesn't play and she doesn't do much of anything to warrant much to talk about. She's an awesome huntress though and reminds me of Waffles at least once a week by dropping field mice at the door in the morning. Last month it was a half grown rabbit that she autopsied on the welcome mat... All of the body parts were intact, just not... "intact". Abi's Jinglebell died of mysterious reasons and we buried him in the back yard after finding him one morning. We discussed it and when kitten season comes around next spring she wants to find a kitten. She's got a bathroom to her bedroom and a fairly large room that can accommodate one of our two cat trees and we'll put the kitten in her room most of the time to escape toddler fingers.

Good to hear from you, grace. So sorry to read about Jinglebell.
Way back when, Nikki brought me a baby hare that was almost as big as herself. Then she ate its face and left the rest to me to find in the morning. Ah, the joy of living with cats.

Oddly, I don't remember Lunatic, though. But I'm glad to hear she's doing well, if a bit too mellow to be entertaining.

That was the first time I ever ordered a headstone for an animal before. Well, it's a rock but it's engraved and obviously a memorial marker. That helped Abi alot. She still puts flowers on it. Jody took it hard which surprised me. I married an adament cat disliker. He doesn't love 'em, but if they belong to us then that's different.
*shakes head* You know I get confused some days of what the timeline looked like when Eve was killed. I should know better. We adopted Luna two weeks before she died. Not immediately after.

I remember that you adopted Jinglebell shortly after she died. And I wonder if that association was part of what made it so hard for Jody?

We have a picture of Eve cuddling Luna before she died. Jody was confused and thought that was Jinglebell she was holding and not Luna. He was still upset because Abi was so gutted but not quite as much when I figured out what was up and gently reminded him otherwise. Ironically I have a photo of Ian and Jinglebell hanging out together. The boys loved loved loved one another. I don't think there will be another cat like Jingle. He definitely preferred kids over adults.
Here's a not so recent photo of the boys from sometime late last Winter. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v661/gracecat/?action=view¤t=jinglebio.jpg

I avoided alot of places that reminded me of Eve and she literally began on RPCA with several other regulars in Yahoo chat. Well, not literally.... but a few hours before (or was it after) we were cackling like mad hens and kept it up the entire pregnancy.
Maybe I'll hang around a bit this time. :)

You'll get a lot of exercise keeping up with those kids. But, I always say that one of the reasons we have kids is to have an excuse to go to the kid movies, swing on a swing once in a while in the park and go to places like Disney World. Annie
Gracecat - 12 Nov 2007 02:17 GMT > > *waves* > [quoted text clipped - 14 lines] > like Disney World. > Annie *laughs* Hey Annie, I'm so glad you posted. I check in every now and then and the last few times I've missed your posts. The last I saw was concerning your daughter's situation with her boyfriend. How is that coming along? How's Jim? Are you still on the boat?
Yesterday we went to see Game Plan with Abi. Before that was Transformers and before that was Fantastic Four. She loves the Marvel superhero movies and the family movies so much it's hard to go see anything without her anymore because we end up feeling guilty.
I'm really excited about Disney, this will be my eighth or ninth trip (my folks always made a trip every two or three years. Jody and I are doing the same it appears). He's put it off a long time because it was one of two vacation spots we visited with Eve, the other being San Francisco. But we're ready now. I can't wait for Ian to see Winnie the Pooh for the first time. I'm not sure how it's going to go over for the first couple hours of seeing Characters. He eyeballed me hard and long when I walked into his bedroom after naptime on Halloween with make-up on my face. And it wasn't even that much make-up, just faint brown spots mimicking a leopard. *laughs* It should be interesting. I bought a new Mac last month because they say it's so easy to blog photos and video straight to online. I'm working on getting Halloween up and Thanksgiving. Hopefully I'll post from WDW with updates. :) I'm seriously planning on it.
Matthew - 12 Nov 2007 02:22 GMT Hi Gracie glad to see you back
Since you are coming down to my neck of the woods. A little words of advice DON'T BUY ANY SOUVENIRS FROM DISNEY. Nearby on a road called international drive there are several Disney shops where instead of $20 for a single shirt you can get 3 for the same price the same item.
If you got any Questions about Orlando you can ask. Hope you have a nice trip it is beautiful weather down here right now 70's during the day and 50's at night

I'm sure the kids are going to want to get some things from the Magic Kingdom because dangit, it's from DisneyWorld and nothing else will do. But I've been so many times I'm probably going to keep my shopping to the Disney Village (where Cirque de Soleil and Planet Hollywood reside). They have some neat unusual things in a few shops I remember and try to visit everytime I go. I may look in the phone book for esoteric or eclectic shops in Orlando, and will definitely hit up Whole Foods though for hotel room midnight snacks. If there are any notable privately owned local bookstores I'd love to visit. New Orleans has one that's a bit difficult to find but it's dusty, musty and yellow inside, both the books and the shop. I love it.
In 25 years of visiting I've never ventured off away from Disney property with the exception of visiting SeaWorld. I'd like to see some of the unusual shopping spots this time.
Gracecat - 12 Nov 2007 04:31 GMT And conch... I want to try conch.
That's on my to do list.

I am not sure about local bookshops something like that you would have to venture north to Mount Dora. It is a rustic area that you go window shipping at. it is a bout 45 minutes north
But on the north side on international drive that I mentioned there are outlet stores of all types. Sea World is on the south side of International drive http://www.internationaldriveorlando.com/
You are going to pay a fortune shopping there @ Disney. 10 minutes down the road is the area I described. They sell the same stuff that you buy on Disney property. Same name same thing except no 1000% mark up.
Across the road is a Gooding shopping center if you need a local grocery store it is the cross roads shopping center right down the road from Pleasure Island. Located on 535 and hotel blvd.
I know some great places to eat. You were asking about conch almost any sports bar serve conch fritters some of the best are at Orlando Ale houses but the best place to go is Jimmy Buffets Margaretville located in Universal studios city walk. http://www.margaritavilleorlando.com/MENU_starters.htm http://www.universalorlando.com/cw_dining.html#Margaritaville
Since you are going to Disney here is a tip about Animal Kingdom go first thing when it is open the animals are more active. As the day goes on they lie around more instead of being playful. If you can enjoy Epcot food around the world. There are quite a few things for the kids to do there but it is more for adults. Have you tried to find the hidden Mickey's yet
I have been to Disney parks over 100 times. They redid Pirates of the Caribbean and added Johnny Depp's character to it they also redid it's a small world.
I can answer about any of the dining or shows out there. If you can go to the Pirates dinner it is a blast and the food is good http://www.piratesdinneradventure.com/florida/index.html
If you have any other questions please ask. I will tell you local favorites, what is hot and what is not.

They have a few guest only specials that we're interested in doing.
