Today we had to take my elderly boston terrier to the emergency vets because
he had blood in his urine (he has a UTI). While we were waiting, this lady
(and I use the term loosely) came in carrying a cat. She explained to the
tech that the cat had been throwing up, and she needed to be seen. The tech
told her that it was $75.00 for the visit plus any meds or proceedures that
they had to do. The 'lady' started to fill out the form, and asked if there
was a bathroom. She went into the bathroom with the cat, came out w/o the
cat, looked at me and put her fingers to her lips and said 'shhh - it's a
stray', and LEFT! She went out to her car and drove off! When I figured out
what she was doing, I told the vet techs and they went and got the poor cat.
We didn't catch her licence plate number, but we did get a description of
the vehicle. That poor cat! I don't believe for one minute it was a stray,
because it was so calm in her arms. Major hisspits to her and any of her
offspring! GEEZ! The vets are going to call the Cat Coalition and see if
they can get her in a foster home asap. Purrs for the little one and hope
that she/he finds their one true home!

It's absolutely amazing how uncaring some people can be at times....
However, better to leave the kitty at the vet's than pitch it out the
window or something. That's how we got our Casper, aka Pork Chop...
Someone left her in a carrier at my vet's door! Purrs for the little
kitty to find her forever home....

We had some kittens left in box at the Humane Society front door, and they
drowned in an early morning rain before we found them. During mid-summer, some
bottom-feeding scumbag left a litter of kittens in the back of someone's truck
at Wal Mart, and they died from the heat before the owner of the truck found
them. Honest to God, I'd rather see people put a bullet through their heads.
It's not as cruel.

What can you say, except how absolutely horrible. People who just
don't care and are apparently incredibly stupid to boot. Pets aren't
the only beings that need to be neutered.
My Sebastian was a "door dump" at the vet I use (which also is an
adjunct shelter for a rescue group), although he was left in a
carrier. I had'nt thought of the danger aspect of dumping a cat like
that before-suppose a loose dog comes on it?

Now that would piss me off and I would have flogged the woman for sure. I hate
people who dump animals, and YES, that's what she did. I am fed up fricking
sick and tired of people who expect others to take responsibilities for THEIR
animals. Besides the usual dump-ees, four years ago I got four tiny baby
kittens on my porch in a BUCKET, and two years ago I got a kitten taped up in a
box in the driveway. They can at least have the GUTS to relinquish the animal
to a humane society and donate some cash for it's care. Sheesh. I better get
off the soapbox and take a blood pressure pill.

That totally sucks. At our clinic if someone pulled that they could
sneak out the emergency exit without anyone seeing them.
Actually on Friday I came to work to find that someone had left a cage
with two baby rats on the clinic doorstep.
Fortunately a co-worker took them home with her.
I hope the poor kitty finds a loving home.

I know what its like to have four kittens dumped on your doorstep, they
just leave the the problem for someone else. my son took one, and his
G.friend took one, I already had a dog and a cat I couldn't afford to feed
any moreand we were in a commission flat,so I had to get them to Bondi
, on the bus, to Grace Bro's where they had a pet dpt, I hoped they'd get
a good home, Jean.P.

Sounds like you did great. There are so many poor little kittens dumped
everywhere, all the time. Somebody has to be an advocate for them, like you
did, or theywouldn't have had a chance at all.

This just SUCKS! You're right, people just suck sometimes. I doubt
seriously the cat was a stray, otherwise it wouldn't have been calm in her
arms.
Purrs for the kitty. And for your elderly dog with the UTI.

That's unbelievable! Lots of purrs to the poor little mite, and
litterbox offerings and regurgitated grass to the 'lady'.

Purrs for the dog.
As for the "lady":
1. Kumani vomits in her general direction.
2. Tyche finds a target worthy of her hissing
3. Smokey sez, "Hey B*tch, that wasn't very f*cking nice! Not havin'
a home SUX an' I hope someday YOU know what it's like to have nowhere
to live, you f*cking..." (Ok, that's enough of that smokey!)
4. When she dies and goes to Hell, Nocturne promises to eat her soul,
as long as she's allowed to barf it up again.
Purrs also for the kitty to find a home.
Your animal is your responsibility. Yes, giving them to the shelter
is bad/hard (I had to once, and was so upset, not wanting the kitty to
be put to sleep if an owner couldn't be found...I was road-tripping
when someone abandoned a kitten in the yard of the home I was staying
in. Being in and out of different countries meant I had no ability to
get the kitten vet-checked/vaccinated before I had to move on before
my money ran out. I still feel guilty for this, as if I abandoned the
cat as well as his original owners.) but abandoning them is worse.
Crueler.
It amazes me how some people can hold animals' lives in such low
regard. Doubly shocking when they are people who hold humans in high
regard yet have no value for animals--that's even more shocking than
the bottomfeeders who don't value anything.

I suppose it's natural that someone who is able to do something so cruel
as to dump a cat - even in a vet's office - is also a liar. But I keep
thinking - why bother? Do you *really* think that the people who see you
dump an animal are going to think you didn't do it if you lie?
People's different ideas of honesty can be really bizarre. Some people
seem to think that if they say the right-sounding thing, no matter how
much of a lie it is, everyone will be fooled about their actions.

Purrs that the poor cat finds a new home ASAP, and that sub-human that
dumped her ends up homeless on the streets.
