Spooky has a job.
I bought a house a while ago, and it was a serious fixer upper. So I have
been working on it for some time. However I don't do the electrical and the
plumbing so a friend has been helping me out when he can. Spooky took an
instant liking to him and followed him around to "help" with all the
repairs. On the days that Dan doesn't come over, Spooky will wait by the
door for his friend to show up and they could get back to the job site.
Now Spooky is particularly well suited for a construction job. He loves
junk food. He bosses people around. He uses bad language. However, since
the Spookster felt that he had to see everything that was done and ok it
personally, it was decided that he was more of a managerial type. So now he
is the Building Inspector. It's not ok until Spooky has paw stamped it.
And I know who's payroll he's on. Whenever my boyfriend comes over, Spooky
meets him at the door with a complete report and tour. They check out the
new outlets, they try the new doorknobs. They go over the painted finishes
to make sure that everything has been calked and edged properly. They share
a few cheeze doodles and discuss work permits.
I guess I should be glad he lets me live here.

Well, you bought the house for Spooky, didn't you? Do you expect him
to live there if the power doesn't work? Do you have a manual can
opener? How are you going to open the canned food if the power isn't
right? But I've got some bad news for you. Spooky is watching your
boyfriend trying out the new doorknobs so that he (Spooky) can figure
out how to open and close doors on his own.
Welcome back!

You know you might have a point about the doorknobs. I didn't get the lever
type because a couple of the furballs know how to open those. With the
intense look the Spooker has when he goes over the house plans with BF, I've
been thinking he was just trying out how to get himself an opposable thumb
or two or four.

LOL. It sounds like the Spookster has it covered.

When we had the builders round to fit the central heating etc young
Dunzi (about 8 months old at the time) took it on herself to supervise
them. When the guy was painting the doorframes, she watched very
intently and much too closely with the net result that she was black
with a lot of white for some time afterwards
I remember one day I couldn't find her and I went out to ask the
workmen if they had seen her- there was four of them sitting on the
stairs with their teas and bacon rolls and Dunzi sitting there,
apprently listening quite intently to them as they discussed the
desirability of the young lady on page three of the "Sun" and the
chances of some horse in the 3.30, all the time happily chewing on her
own bacon roll
I found that that she was in the habit of visiting them at tea time (I
would have normally been at work so I didn't know before) and they
were so used to her, they ordered a bacon roll just for her
Funny thing is I cook bacon, I even go over to the same sandwich bar
and order a bacon roll and she isn't interested in it at all...Maybe
she just fancied one of them!
