Thank you for all the purrs. They helped tremendously, and Robbie is
home minus all teeth except his canines.
It has been a double edged sword today however. Robbie came through
the dental great, and recovered from the anaesthetic well, but his
pupils remained very dilated after recovery which concerned TED
Michael greatly, so he took some bloods and blood pressure, and
compared them to the results he had from April when Robbie got his
full geriatric MOT.
It appears that Robbie has hypertension and very early stage CRF. :o(
So, he's been put onto Fortekor for the hypertension, and we go back
in 2 weeks for a follow up. :o(
So the boys is home, but he's not brilliant. TED also thinks he is
older than we thought. He thinks he's more like 14 than 11.
Please keep purrs coming.

Purrs coming. Maybe the tooth removal is a blessing in disguise --
otherwise, you wouldn't have found out about these problems until they
were much worse.

Sorry I missed this, and glad Robbie's home! Purrs a-plenty coming
from over the pond that he heals quickly from the dental work, and
that the hypertension and the CRF are cured/held at bay for a long
time yet to come!

Purrs will continue. His blood pressure may go down somewhat now he's home.

I'm so sorry to hear about Robbie's hypertension. Purrs on the way.

Glad he's back home. FWIW, I hope the experience of Francis as regards CRF
can help limit your worries. Remember how Francis was apprently at death's
door, no kidney function at all so the vet wanted to euthanise him as
Francis was about to expire - several years ago now? Well, Francis is still
here, still very much alive and still very much enjoying life. He refused to
eat renal diet cat food, and has normal senior food (wet and dry) with
unlimited access to water. Francis was on Fortekor for a while (at the time
the vet said Francis would be on Fortekor for whatever time was left to him)
and it certainly had a positive effect, but after a while, he no longer
required it. The acture renal failure cat who became a chronic renal failure
cat is currently sat on the office floor washing himself after a strenuous
session in the garden watching the birds on the nut feeders in the willow
tree and hunting small rodents on the banks of the stream. It's a hard
life...

You got it, Helen.
Keep in mind that, with good care, CRF kitties can life quite a good
long while after diagnosis. My Cosmo is proof of that: he was
diagnosed in May 2000, and is still with us, still eating and drinking
and occasionally smacking the younger cats if they get out of hand.
