My brother Pat has been caring for a feral cat that has been coming his
yard. He's been leaving food and water and trying to get the kitty
accustomed to being near him. As the kitty has been getting more at ease
with Pat he has occasionally been coming through Maggie's dog door to
visit - with Maggie (Pat's springer spaniel).

Pat has been spending a lot of time at mom's place, helping her out with
stuff since she has been back from the hospital. When Pat and Maggie got
back home, kitty was in the front yard. As soon as Maggie got into the
yard she ran straight for the cat - and they started playing tag with
each other. They took turns chasing each other around the fountain.

The kitty has tamed enough to let Pat pet him and pick him up. Pat is
planning to get kitty in to TED to get fixed.

Sweet story! It's always good to get your dog a pet. :) And it sounds
like kitty rescue runs in your family.

Wow. Bear gets along fine with our cats but I don't think he would go
get us a new one. Although, come to think of it, he IS awfully
friendly with the cats we meet when he walks me.

Aww, so nice to read a happy story. Lucky Maggie, and how good of her to
treat the cat as a friend.

How marvelous!  I think it's great Maggie and the cat have become fast
friends :)

Years ago I had a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a small Himalayan.
(OK, Frisky was bonded to my son with superglue, but she let me pet her now
and then.)

The 120 pound dog would carry the 7 pound cat around in his mouth.
They groomed each other.
They slept together.

Cheers
H.

The joy of a cat and dog frfiendship is special.  My Scooter has "mommed" my
three cats.  Willow the latest one went to get "fixed" two days ago. She has
some Himmie in her and came home all fluffy after a bath.  She hadn't been
grooming after her surgery and looked scruffy.  Put her in the dog cage to
protect her from O. T. for a few days.  Scooter dog was beside herself and
she and Willow kept being agitated.  I finally took them in the bedroom
whereupon, Scooter gave the kitten a complets bath, stitches and all.  The
dog was happy, the cat went back in the cage and slept for three hours.
