I really need purrs

I've been very quiet up to this point about some medical things going on
in my life because I just really wanted them to go away. Well, they
aren't going away and they are fairly serious and I don't know how
serious at this point only that they aren't deadly.

I'm on a combination of meds that are causing me to have seizures and
neurodeficits. I already had a seizure disorder that was under control
with medications that were used to control something else I have wrong.
Then i was put on a medication that caused me to start having seizures.
Then the medications weren't enough to control my condition, so I was
put on more medications and when I came off of one of them I started
having more seizures. So I have to stay on it for now. And the
combination of all the meds is causing incredible neurodeficits so I
can't think straight. My auditory processing gets garbled and I have a
hard time interpretting it. It is like losing 30-50  IQ points just
because I use my ears. And I now have an attention deficit problem. My
visual processing is still okay which is good because that is the crux
of my field - computer graphics.

I had an EEG that showed abnormal activity in my left lobe so I have to
go into the hospital to have further study done. It is done in the sleep
lab and it is booked for the next two months, so I don't get to have the
study done until the four days after Christmas.  This has all been going
on all semester. I lost my driving privileges about a month ago so I
have been riding the bus and relying on friends and I don't know when I
will be able to get my driving privileges back. It could be as much as 6
months after my last seizure. And since they won't change my meds until
after the 4 day long EEG study in two months, who knows how long that
will be.

One of my instructors this semester has been incredibly nice about it
the other has been a witch. I just keep telling myself that all I have
to do is pass this semester. I don't have to get A's.

Looking on the bright side, I am getting exercise using the bus system
walking to and from the bus stops, I am saving money on gas, I am saving
money on fast food because I can't just stop by to grab a bite and
because I am a student, the bus is FREE.

Nonetheless, I would appreciate get well soon purrs and time pass fast
purrs.

Oh, Bridget, that sounds awful. I can't imagine what it must be like
having to deal with all that.

I've got the furkids cranked up sending their power purrs for your health,
your driving privileges, and your sanity. Hang in there, you WILL make it
through. Please keep us posted.

Many healing, soothing purrs are on the way.  I really hope they get your
meds straightened out!  I was just discussing this subject with another
friend - I think doctors are just too quick to take the "recommendations" of
drug company salesmen on how efficacious some drugs are.  I've had really,
really bad problems with Effexor and Neurontin and I will *NEVER* let them
put me on SSRIs ever again.  The side effects were disabling, but the
withdrawal symptoms were even worse!  I can really empathize with what
you're going through, and you'll be in my thoughts and my purr-ayers.

Hugs,

Purrs are on the way.  It sounds like a nightmare!

One more plus for the current situation - you're 'going green' by not
driving.  ;-)

I hope the time will pass quickly for you, and the problem is easy to find
and to fix.

It's a tough place you're in Bridget.  You don't want to lose what
you've put into those classes-tuition, books, lab or other fees maybe-
so you have the right idea, to get through the semester.  And being
told you can't drive now!  This has to be stressing your body so try
to stay as healthy as you can in what you eat and enough sleep.  Is
there a campus health service that can do anything for you?
Counselors?  Church?  It just helps to have friends in the scary
times.  Purrs and prayers from our household.  PatM

Purrs on their way. Your college/university might have a disabled
student services person who might be able to help with the teacher,

I'm so sorry to read this.  Hopefully they'll figure out how to
control the insanity and get you back to a normal life.  I've asked
the cats and they are purring up a storm for you.  Speedy is giving
doggy yowls and tail wags.  Rog says he can relate.  It is hard to
give up what you've become used to, isn't it?  You have our good
wishes and healing thoughts for things to get better for you and your
furry owners.

{{{{Bridget}}}} You got it, hon.

I'm so sorry you're going through all this, and to have to wait that
long for tests is mind-boggling.

I tell myself the same things about the bus.  I suppose there are good
things that come about when bad things happen . . . .  Fellow bus-rider
purrs to you, too ;-)
