Karen AKA KajiKit - 13 Nov 2004 23:39 GMT
we went back to the animal shelter today to visitthe furbabies and to
see if there was somebody who really wanted to come home with us. And
guess what? Scout and Silver mewed at us and stuck their heads out of
their cage when they saw us walk in the door! of course i'm sure they
did that for everyone becaue they're wonderfully sweet, friendly
socialised kittkes, but it was flattering nonetheless.

I was planning to go siti in the adult room and see who came to me, b
ut we never got that far. The lady behind the counter said that scout
and silver were waiting for us, and persuaded us t od othe paperwork
right away. So i cuddled them in tu8rn whiile john filled out all the
paperwork, and then we took them home in a cardboard carrier. They
were both VERY good on the way - no hisspitting, fighting or making
meses in the carrier, just a few plaintive mews to 'let me out
please!' and some scrabbling at the box. We really weren't ready for
them so I ran int the pet supermarket and said 'where's the kitty
stuff please?' and then grabbed a littlebox kit, litter etc.

And now they're home, and spent most o f the afternoon hiding under
the bed. I don't think they'll be there for long though - Silver has
already come out and jumped onto the bed and into my lap, and jumped
up onto John's chair and demanded her share of attention. I hope it
won't take Scout long to make the same realisations - this is their
home now, and we want them to be happy :)

Believe me, they are... I think we're very lucky that they wanted to
be with us :)

Congratulations!  They just need a little time to adjust to their new home
:)

That's so great, Karen.  I remember you weren't allowed to have cats
before, so this is a very nice change. :)

Congratulations on your new additions!  I'm sure it won't take Scout and
Silver long to realize they have a wonderful home.  In fact, it looks as
thought Silver has already figured that out.

More kitties!  We are having a RPCA baby boom!  Nice, especially since
there were so many losses in the past few months.  Pictures soon?

We've already taken some, at least of Silver - Scout won't come out
into camerarange yet... they'll be on our website as soon as one of
use can get them there :) John always said my kitties would vie with
Vino for the status of 'most photographed feline' :)

Hahah!  I just checked and there's only 144 pictures in my Vino
folder.  So there.  But of course that doesn't include all the paper
pic's from before we went digital.  Still...;-)

I haven't counted them but I could bet anything that Zorin's Lynxie has
been photographed much more than Vino. :o) And much more than my two,
though there are quite a lot of their pictures, too (I had to remove a
lot from my Yahoo album since it was full).

Congratulations on the new additions! So glad to hear you took both of
them. I'm sure Scout will come around soon when she sees all the
attention Silver is getting. Are you going to keep the names?

Yes we're keeping the names. The kitties are guessed to be six months
old, so they know who they are. Their names fit them well too - Silver
was the Lone Ranger's horse, and Scout belonged to Tonto... also,
Scout seems to like sniffing around places by herself and Silver is a
magnificent silvery-grey :)

Congratulations!  This is wonderful news.  I was hoping you would adopt both
of them, and I am sure the four of you (you, John, Silver, and Scout) are
going to be a happy family.

Hi Karen! A belated welcome to America. And welcome to Scout & Silverr.
Adopting two related kittens together is a good idea. They'll have a playmate.
Give them time they'll settle in.

Congratulations!

By the end of the week they'll likely both act as though they own the
place. because they do.  Be understanding and encouraging until then,
as a kitty can be weirded out by a new environment. and...enjoy!

Karen, I'm sure you'll enjoy them just as much as they'll enjoy
having you as their slaves.   Purrs Jean.P.
