On the one occasion that my parents' house was burgled, we saw evidence
that the burglar had made a hasty, panicky exit (he dropped several pieces
of loot in the back yard). Their cat liked to sleep on top of a pile of
boxes in the attic, and would make a loud thump when she jumped down, so
she probably was responsible for scaring the burglar away.

I posted about this on another site but it was spooky. We have cornfields
by my house and they picked it the other day. Dueing the night I heard a
noise like a big rat scratching to get in. I turned on the light before I
got out of bed. Went to the livingroom ecorted by three cats. Looked in
the kitchen and bathroom. Finally figured the noise was comming from the
"tidy cat" container where I keep the cats food. The lid was loose and,
like an idiot, I lifted it up. Something streaked out and I yelled. I
realized in a split second it was Willow. The food was too deep for her to
get a foothold in order to jump out. Had to give her a bath at three in the
morning she smelled so from the food.
