This is from my friend Betty, the owner/slave of Tara the d-thing:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tarabelly (Belle Lee) was sent to the bridge this morning. It was a
difficult decision to make, but she was declining a little bit every
day. She  w
as
taking massive amounts of medication and still limping, stumbling,
and  sometime
s
pooping in the house. She was unaware that it was  coming out of  her.
Three
days ago, she started to refuse to eat kibble, however chicken noodle
soup,
grilled shrimp, crab cakes, and fried chicken were acceptable fare.
Two  days
ago, she started to refuse to eat her meds (she loved her meds, they
were  dog
candy to her). This morning she refused to eat her denta stix (another
favorite).

She was still able to go and down stairs, beg for food, and use one of
the
cats as a bowling ball. She still had a sparkle in her cloudy old
eyes, and
that's what made it so difficult.

I knew that the time was coming, so last Sunday a bunch of my friends
came
over to have a party in her honor. She got people food, a lot of
attention and
they got a chance to say goodbye to her.

The appointment had already been set for this morning, but I was still
waffling about my decision and kept asking for signs. The next morning
she
didn't want her kibble, then the next day, her meds and finally this
morning the
incident with the denta stix. So I've had my signs. She's gone to the
bridge
now, but she had a good long run.

Right now, I feel like my heart's been amputated. A large chunk of it
is
missing.

Run pain free, eat what you want old girl, I hope you can enjoy some
private
garbage parties (always best to raid the garbage at night when
everyone's
asleep).

RIP Tarabelly (Tara Belle Lee according to her)

I'm so sorry for such a beloved dog, and for those she left behind.

What a beautiful and delightful tribute, in print and in action. Tara got to
go with dignity, and with her last memories being such an outpuring of love
from all who knew her. We should all leave this world with such a memory.
Tara runs free now, her eyes clear and her paws fast; and I understand Tyhe
Boss puts out a great spread in the lands beyond the Bridge. Imagine the
party she'll have when you're back together!

Blessed be,
Baha

I'm sorry to hear about Tarabelly Betty.   I'm glad she had a long,
wonderful life with you here and I know in my heart she will be
waiting over the Bridge to show you around.

Three kitties who share and have always shared their lives with Elkhounds
and who know Tara Belle Lee and their mum through the Moosedog list purr for
yet another one who went to the Bridge.

"You have lived a long and happy life Tara Belle Lee and we have enjoyed
reading about you. An icon Moosedog has left us and we will miss you lots.
We will purr for the Elkhound shaped hole in the heart of your human and
hope happy memories will fill it when time moves on."

household through circumstances, and their mum Ann too)
