Nanki-Poo and I could use some prayers

Yoj - 13 Nov 2004 00:11 GMT This morning Nanki-Poo was following me around. He never let me get one full step ahead of him. Today was wash day. He followed me into the garage when I went out to put in the clothes to wash. I figured it would be okay, since he was sticking so close. However, he saw the back door and immediately went out into the back yard. That was several hours ago, and I haven't seen him since. I hadn't shown him the cat door yet, so I don't know if he could get in. I put a dish of food in the garage, and it hasn't been touched. He might have been afraid to come back into the garage while the washer and dryer were running, but there's still no sign of him. I did go to my movie, and since I got home a few minutes ago, I've left the back door open a little, in hopes that he'll come back and come in.
I don't think he'd deliberately run away. He seemed really happy to be here. However, he might have gone too far in his explorations and gotten lost. I walked around the block before I went to my movie, and looked when I came home.
All I can do is hope and pray he finds his way back.
There's a slight chance he got into the house without my seeing him and is in one of his hiding places, but I doubt it.
The really weird thing is that since I first realized he wasn't in the back yard, Lindy has gone around the house and yard, calling and acting as though she's looking for him. I have no idea whether she really is, but that's what it seems like.

I wish cats would always come when you call them! Whether Betty comes when called seems to depend on what state she's in. She comes 0% of the time when napping, about 50% of the time when she's in a favorite meatloaf spot, and about 80% at other times.

I know what you mean about cats coming when you call them. Skeeter (RB) usually did, Lindy does sometimes. Nanki-Poo (mine, that is) hasn't yet responded to a call. Okay, he probably doesn't know his name yet, but he doesn't respond to "Kitty, kitty" either.

Jean Hobbs - 28 Nov 2004 10:35 GMT Henri RB always came when I whistled for him, wherever he was, and sometimes I telepathed him home, could tell a story about that, Wilson can be one of them B-----cats but he does come running when I call him so I guess I can say, he can be good too Jean.P.

Sammy used to play that game with me when she was a kitten until about 1 year old. She'd dart out the door, and I'd end up chasing her around. More than once I lost track of her, head out to the truck for a flashlight, only to find she was watching me hunt under the bushes form the bedroom window.
Sammy insists she didn't send Nanki_poo any suggestions, but I'm not so sure

Now I can breathe again. Oh yes, the feline game of "watch the human search for me". I have gone through that on several occasions. I have also done this and eventually found that the cat was shut in a closet, or had slipped outside, so it is just as well that you searched.

Jean Hobbs - 28 Nov 2004 10:23 GMT just got round to reading this Joy,althoughI think I remember sending purrs when you first lost him,I laughed at where you found him,it does give you a scare though, Wilson sleeps for hours in new places in bad weather, and I get very scared because if he accidentally got outside he would never stop running, as he is the original scaredy cat,I'd never see him again, he's unsociable and can be quite naughty, but I love him heaps Jean.P.
