I just wanted to touch base with everyone; I know I've been gone a long time
although I've lurked recently.  Real life this past year has just been so
all-consuming that I just could not keep up--kid issues, parent issues,
health issues, etc.

However, since I last posted I'm happy to let you know that I was able to
find help with homing a stray pregnant mamacat and a sweet, declawed huge
orange kitty that came into my yard.  In doing so, I became more involved
with the rescue group (the ones who helped me find a home for Pirate) and
when the local Petsmart had an opportunity  to allow this rescue group
(PACA/AAR - People's Anti-Cruelty Association/Albuquerque Animal Rescue) to
show kitties in their store on a daily basis I ended up becoming actively
involved in pulling this off.  So now I'm even more busy than ever!  It's a
big responsibility to try and adopt cats out and I'm learning a lot even
while I'm quaking in my boots!

As for my kitty family -- we still have not achieved a big happy cat family
because Tucker and Midnight still vie for dominance (and I have the marked
areas to prove it) but we're hanging in there.
Tucker has become a major lapcat and Midnight has turned into a major fat
cat (I hadn't weighed  her  in a long time and I was horrified to find out
she'd gained so much.). I'd slowly become "suckered" or "trained as it were"
by the kitties to dole out more Evo dry food than I'd realized.  And I'd
wondered why they'd been snubbing the canned Wellness so much....  So now
I've become very strict about this, as Robin was becoming fat, too...Oreo is
the same talkative little girl and is always complaining about how she
doesn't get enough attention :o)

I know I've missed a lot of people's lives here and I hope I can find some
way to work posting and reading here into my days 'cause I've missed you
all.

In any case, please know that  all of you are in my thoughts, and I send you
my best wishes, and purrs from my "owners," even when I'm not actively
posting.

Kindest regards and love,
Christine and Tucker, Midnight, Oreo & Robin

Girl, we've been wondering where you were hiding.  Mandy asked about
you so much that I showed her how to get to usenet through google
groups and she's become a regular reader and sometime poster.  She
fell in love with Tucker when we were visiting, along with the rest of
us who fell in love with your whole family.  Please keep us updated
when you can and good luck on adoption interviews.  They wouldn't let
me do them as I told them that I couldn't see letting any family that
would declaw a cat have a cat.

Please give everyone hugs and our love.  We all think of you fondly.

Hey Pam,
Tell Amanda that I really appreciate her interest - blush; I so enjoyed the
meeting we had a few years ago!

We're not going to adopt a cat to anyone who declaws either.  PACA also
specifies that adopted cats must be indoor kitties unless there is a cat
enclosure.  The tricky part is trying to get info about people's past and
current pet histories without tipping them off so they just give you the
answers they think you want to hear -- honestly, it makes me nervous.
Here's a link to the PACA/AAR website -- there's supposed to be a kittycam,
too.

Good to see you again! I could waste a lot of time looking at those webcams.

Hi Christine!  I had been wondering if you and the gang were doing
ok.

This sounds wonderful. I worked with a rescue group a few years ago that
had an outdoor adoption once a week in a busy shopping area - it was a
lot of fun. I never got to the point of doing the actual adoptions, but
they would have been extremely supportive of your not being willing to
let someone who would declaw adopt a cat!

I think it's really great that the Petsmart has this adoption every
*day*. Good work! :)

Great to hear from you again, Christine.  I've thought about you from time
to time and wondered where you were.
Boyfie is still fabulous.  Both KFC and I are struggling with health
problems atm but we are determined to overcome.

It's sure great to hear from you! I can tell why you haven't been on.
That is a lot going on! I hope you keep well and the not good issues
are resolved.
