Hi All
I mentioned a while back that I sponsored a black FIV cat called Vinny
through a local shelter and if you remember the woman was surprised
because he was old and not in the best of health and I gave her some
extra cash to buy the old boy some prawns
Well you asked for news and tonight I got some
I got a photo of Vinny sunning himself in the garden (very nice photo
as well came in a cardboard sleeve (I first of all thought I'd been
sent a wedding invitation) he's a black cat with some brown (Probably
because he was in Sunlight) with a medium length coat and he looked in
the photo a bit in need of a groom then again he is 18+ and when I'm
the Human equivalent of that age I expect I'll occasionally be a bit
careless of my looks (Says the woman sitting here in an old top with
hair in need of a wash- can't do a damn thing until I get everything
in the bath put back in the kitchen)
Anyway there was a note from the person who fosters him and it said:-
"Vinny's doing pretty well, he has lost a little bit of weight over
the last few months, which is being watched. He's a lovely
affectionate cat who really likes to be stroked alas because of his
age and being FIV it is very unlikely he will be rehomed but we make a
fuss of him when we can and we're touched when he sleeps on our bed,
which he does from time to time having claimed the bed as his own
despite his age"
And handwritten at the bottom "He and the other cats enjoyed their
prawn supper and all say thank you"
The newsletter from the shelter mentions that the person who runs it
is looking for someone with better typing/computer skills to do the
newsletter as she can't really type so I might drop her a line and
say "I'm a secretary with too much time on my hands- I could do that"
Is this the first step to being a volunteer? Next thing I know I'll be
fostering

It is nice that they let you know how Vinny is doing and that they
mentioned the prawn treats you paid for. But Lesley, I had to pick
myself up off the floor from laughing so hard at the comment that you
"have too much time on your hands" that was a joke right? Yeah, that's
what I thought.

No joke- spent most of today reading the annotated Pratchett archive-
sometimes have busy moments which I look forward to but work often
finds me idling and bored
Outside of work of course there is no such thing as "too much time on
my hands" but I can type the newsletter at work so that will be
something to do!

You must be one of those people who goes to work to "get away from it
all". :) I work with a woman who told me that she works harder over
the weekend taking care of her family, and that she's happy when Monday
rolls around so she can rest.
Anyway, great news about Vinny. That's so cute about the prawns - it's
nice that he got a treat like that (thanks to you!), when he's old and
ailing. Sounds like his last days are more pleasant for him than his
previous ones.

OK, that I might believe. I was thinking you were talking about doing
this after work. I don't know of too many people who are as busy as
you are.

After work? Believe me if I have any spare time after work I spend it asleep!

What a great bunch of photos, and with good captions. Sally is very
pretty, and Joey definitely looks naughty. Vinnie looks like a doll!

Go for it! Doing newsletters is fun, yes it is the beginning of
volunteering but===someone has to do it.

Sounds like a great idea to me! Glad to hear Vinny liked his shrimpies
(prawnies just doesn't sound as cute ;) ).

Well I tried the email link on their website to contact them but it doesn't
work (The newsletter says someone is working on the website- it needs it!) so
I tried calling but no answer, so I'll try again later

Thank you so much for doing this, Lesley. I'm sure Vinny appreciates it.
