The other day Marley Ann caught and killed a humming bird out back.
She didn't eat it though....she just carried it over to the patio and
laid on top of it.
Then, the very next day one of the big garage doors was open but I was
inside the house.  I walked through the kitchen out into the garage
and saw that a humming bird had flown in and couldn't find his way
back out.  He was flying all over, but staying real close to the
ceiling.  I ran into the house and got Michael, he came out and
grabbed a smallish lawn rake and tried to guide the little bird back
out through the garage door.  After about 15 seconds of watching that
action I started to fear that Michael (who has absolutely no patience
what-so-ever) would accidentally hurt him.  I told Michael to just go
back inside and I would deal with it.  I got out the step stool and
grabbed the broom, climbed up real slowly talking real softly to the
little bird, slowly inching the broom toward him and he climbed right
on then amazingly let me pick him up.  I climbed down off of the stool
and was standing there in the garage just holding this magnificent
little creature.  He was looking all around real curious like and I
gave him the once over removing the dust and a few cob webs that had
gotten all over his feet.  Then I walked out of the garage with him
and he flew off.  How cool is that?????

That is totally cool! Hummingbirds are such amazing birds. I love
watching them. Come to think of it, so do all the cats, they just have
to watch with a window between them.

I love those birds.   When we had our feeders up.  They would land on me and
the ex while we would fill the feeders.  The furballs always had a field day
because of this.  They would check us out the moment we walked back in to
see if one hitched a ride in.
