I am wondering if anyone here has used one of those pest control units
I've seen advertised?  You plug them in and they work on some
frequency frequented by rodent-types to drive them away.  I need to
know if they would bother my Gracie cat or Sir-Barks-A-Lot...like give
them a headache or ringing in the ears?  Meanwhile, I'll see if I can
look up some reviews and such.  Thanks!

Didn't you just adopt a pest control unit? :)

Not all cats hunt and kill.  My Spooky, for example: many years ago, he
was lying on the living room carpet when a mouse showed up.  He looked at
it when it was some distance away, but did nothing.  He didn't even move
when the mouse ran almost into his whiskers.  He still doesn't know what
to do with normal cat prey.

Another cat (must be thirty years ago), Beast, I think, had to be taught
by me that mice are intersting.  I got tired of having to smell dead mice
everytime the exterminator came by so I asked If I could bring my cat with
me to deal with the mouse problem without the stink and expense - since I
worked alone in that building, they said yes.  I had to trap a mouse in
the trash can and dangle it in front of him before he got the idea that
they were toys.  When, finally, he bit into one, the mouse problem was
over: he cleaned out a complete nest of adults and young in a matter of
minutes.  As long as I kept bringing him to work with me, we had no more
mouse problem: he ate everything but the heads and a smear of blood - easy
enough to clean up.

LOL, I know. I just couldn't resist making the joke.

Yeah, don't forget Persia is afraid of real mice!  She wouldn't set foot in
my kitchen until I disposed of the one that keeled over and died in there.
And I certainly hope that was no reflection on my cooking. LOL

I use them and they don't bother my cats.  One is plugged in close to where
Lindy eats, and I'm sure I'd know if it did bother her.

No idea what you cats will think, but they won't help with the mice.

I think they are a hometing divice for mice.  Tell them where your house is!

Dunno if they bother cats or dogs (they aren't supposed to),
but I've had them a couple of times, and noticed no apparent
effects.  (The one I had in Pasadena certainly did nothing
to discourage the fruit rats in the attic.)  They're
supposed to work on insects, too, but I never noticed they
made much difference with those, either.

Our cats don't give any indication that the contraption is working so
it must not hurt their ears.  I doubt it hurts the ears of rodents
judging by the number of squirrels we've had in our walls and baby
opposum that find their way into our furnace room.

You have mice and you have cat and a dog?      I do not understand this at
all.    Get your cat on the job.  You do not need a pest control unit,
you've got one.

I never found mine did much to bother the bugs, either!
