My niece, Charlotte, has showed an interest in having a cat since she was 4
years old.  She is 7 now and her father, my brother, has let her get one a
few weeks ago, from a shelter, the RSPCA. she chose a tabby boy that was
about to die cos no one wanted him.
I wish she hadn't chosen Tigger for his name.<g>  He is now 15 weeks old.
I gave her a cat toy to take home for him.

Charlotte has said since she was 5 that she wants to be a vet and as she is
flying away at the top of all her classes this does not seem impossible.

Until she sees gory.

I remember you were most impressed with how she behaved around Boyfie
and KFC.  I hope it is a long and delightful relationship.

She may surprise you.  Anyway, welcome home purrs for Tigger, and the best
to his new family.

That's great! It's wonderful that she rescued a kitty from the jaws of
death. And what's wrong with Tigger for his name? Just too commonplace?

I expect to see some pictures! :)

I suppose so. <blush>  She is bright enough to have chosen something else so
I guess she wanted that name.  She had to content herself with with pretend
cat toys until now. She desperately wanted a kitty so I am glad she got one
now.

I don't have a pic of him atm. sorry.  All I know is he cost £80 to include
vaccinations, microchip and his snip which will come about in November.
I'm sure my brother must have taken some photos of him by now, so I will
ask.

Allowing a child to name a new pet can be quite, um, chancy and I
think you got off very well with "Tigger." My friend's niece named
their then-new Wolfhound puppy Telegraph. Telly had a good life and
his name didn't seem to cause a problem. Alas, his allotted time, like
that of all the massive d*g breeds, was short and he is RB now.

The ng wants to see some pictures but we are patient.

That's all I meant. I'm sure you don't have any now, but when you do
get some, I wanna see!! :)

I agree with Joyce--your niece has compassion and smarts to rescue a
kitty who needed a home the most!  Tigger may not be original, but the
important thing is, he found a good and loving young slave. And she
appreciates tabbies--my kinda girl. Good luck to both your niece and
her new owner.

Since there are many female vets in  practice these days, obviously
they were able to overcome any  squeamish tendencies in order to
complete their educations. If that's what your niece wants to do, good
for her. Although she's got plenty of time to decide what she wants to
do instead, if becoming a veterinarian  loses its appeal for any
reason.

Most vets have an insatiable curiosity that overcomes any aversion to the
gore.

I always think the vet schools get our best and the medical schools have to
take the leavings.

But for now we will wish her a lovely long time with Tigg.

Oh, Pooh is classic...and Tiggers are wunnerful things.LOL  I would
say at 7 she still has plenty of childhood attachments, but ya know I
still sit down and watch Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day, It's
the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, The Isle of Misfit Toys.......
Probably shouldn't admit that!hehe

Lee and I went to see the guy that wrote the Pooh song. You haven't seen
ANYTHING until you see two rows of big big biker dudes, dew rags and all
signing the
Winnie the pooh song!  Like the special things in life, IT WAS PRICELESS.

I'm so glad your niece saved a kitty.
