I havent lost a cat b ut, over the years I have lost dogs. If you believe
in what the bridge stands for, you will do what you have to do. Haveing
someone stay with you in this much discomfort is hard. You have done all
humans could do for their friend. Purrs to you from the 3Catskteeers and

I do the same thing with Smudge and she hates it. I try to get as much
as I can before she takes off.
But in KFC's case, do you think the mats make her uncomfortable? I know
that after a while, they can pull and tug at the skin - how long has she
had these? It might be better to just leave them alone. I guess you have
to weigh the possible discomfort of the mats against the discomfort of
having them pulled apart by hand.

Not long. I get my friend to come over now and again to hold her firmly so
I can groom them out. None is pulling against her skin. I would not let
that happen. It just looks bad with dead fur poking out, is all. She
totally hates me doing it so I just insist on it *very* occasionally when
she begins to look like a neglected kitty.
We had a 5 minute grooming session tonight with a slicker brush. Her back
is now clear, but not much of the sides were available for more than a
minute :-/
She is typical of semi-ferals. You can touch my head and back but nothing
else.

I had these htings like wet-wipes we used on Fritzie. They were cat-safe and
were like a mini-bath, and helped with the fur issue. Maybe these might help
if they are available where you live.
Blessed be,

Well, I am glad to hear she ate at least! I have seen people who bring
their cats into the vet for sub-q's all the time. I don't know how
practical that is for you. (((((hugs))))). It's a hard time.

When our Sam got very old, he quit grooming himself. He was a cat you could
bathe, but a lot of the time I didn't want to put him (or me) through that
stress. He disliked being brushed by then as well. He was the grumpy old
man, and didn't like to be handled much. Though he did want you to stay
close by.
Lots of times I'd take a wash cloth and soak it with hot water, then wring
out as much as I could and wipe him down with it. It helped keep his fur
from getting oily. He didn't object as long as it wasn't wet.

You're doing such a wonderful job with her. I've never personally met
a cat that's lived such a long life, and such a full life. I hope
that TED will see to it that she has more quality time left.

> I found a posh Gourmet chicken pouch and she ate most of it today :-)
Flushed with the success of this, I did a supermarket sweep and came home
with all sorts of tiny 80 gram cans of extremely fancy cat food to tempt her
appetite. I chose chicken, turkey and fish so as not to load her kidneys
too much. "Finest cuts of chicken breast" went down a treat as soon as I
got home with it tonight.
I thought Boyfie was out when I gave it to her - he has a tendency to muscle
in if he thinks her food is nicer than his - but he soon appeared from
upstairs. He approached her while she was still eating it. I said to him
"Boyfie, please do not chase her off it, she needs it and you don't."
Believe it or not, he obeyed. He just sat near her and watched. I know he
wanted it as he kept smelling the air as he sat there taking in the lovely
scent of chicken breast but he did not make a move to disturb her. In the
end (she is a very slow eater) he couldn't stand it any more and took
himself off to the outside.
Normally he is very greedy and I have to watch carefully at feeding time
that he doesn't hoover up his own meal and then move over to hers. He tries
to get away with this but not today and it was not that he wasn't hungry as
he hadn't been fed since the morning having slept on the spare bed all day
until he noticed I was home.
It's not as if he ate the mowsie that was on my carpet this morning, or the
vole that I stood on, yes, presented in the exact place I stand to put my
kettle on when I get up. Again. Just in case I missed it for my breakfast
;-)

Boyfie is a gallant lad. He would, if he could, feed both of you. Has
he gotten anywhere on cutting down the ufnair advantage that darn
kestral is exploiting vis a vis the doves?
Will in New Haven, thinking about KFC and our hero Boyfie as well

I'm very glad she is doing so well. And what a gallant lad BF is.
That's one command Kayla is good about. She understands "it isn't yours"

What a sweet Boyfie! Imagine his not only letting KFC have her special food
when he wanted it, but also bringing food to you!

We are continuing to purrs for your girl's comfort, and send some comforting
skritches to Boyfie, too.

Ours have a vast preference for bird too.

This is why I like a cat called Boyfriend! Such a little gent he sounds! I'd
dated two-leggers with worse manners...

It's good stuff- also "Sheba" if you haven't tried it- Isis (RB)
hoovered that up about 15 minutes before she crossed the Bridge so I
guess it must taste nice!

I believe it of Boyfie he is probably the most Gentlecat in existence
I am so glad to hear she might be perking up a bit. I've been sitting
here for ages not really wanting to come online because of fear of bad
news about her....then when I do it turns out its Odessa who needs
purrs as well

How nice of Boyfie to be so considerate to let KFC eat in peace.

Well, we love her, too. We'd never have the chance to know such a unique
cat if you hadn't introduced us.
