The Princess is not eating?

Rita seems to be off her gooshy food.  Granted, she never was much of
an eater, but now she seems to be eating next to nothing. Every day I
throw out almost a whole can of Fancy Feast.  I even bought the
expensive stuff that she really likes!
Everything else is fine. Her ears and eyes are clear, she's playing,
and sleeping, and still eats her crunchies, but this has me worried.
She's drinking all right, too.  Everything appears to be normal except
that she's suddenly not interested in canned food.  Every morning she
begs for it, then takes a bite and goes away.
Could she be bored with it? I got other flavors, but she doesn't want
them either.

It hardly seems to be worth a TED visit, but I still worry.

I've said this before, but not all cats like tuna.  When Persia first
acquired me the vet wanted to make sure she didn't have worms so he told me
to buy some water-packed tuna and tuck a pill in it.  He assured me she'd
wolf it down.  She did not.  She took one sniff and walked away.  I tried it
again without the pill the next day, just to be sure (and because I'd spent
money on canned tuna, which I, myself, despise).  No go.  She just doesn't
like tuna.  Canned salmon is a totally different story :)

Is she eating more kibble than she used to? A cat can live perfectly
well without canned food at all - Scouty and Silver wouldn't eat
gooshy food until they saw Tessie getting it (and suddenly it was a
treat instead of deadly poison!)... maybe they changed something about
that variety and it doesn't smell/taste quite the same to her so she
doesn't like it any more... are there any other brands of canned food
that she's eaten before?

OK, I always have to step in on this one. No, they can't if they have
diabetes. It's just not a good thing.

On Rita, I don't know. Change in eating habits is often a warning bell. I
think I would take her in.

I had this trouble with my Princess (RB 16) too.  My disposer ate more FF
than the cat did.  I discovered that she would not eat anything with fish
in it.  Now with my current TuTu, she loves fish but will not eat anything
with beef in it.  Iams kibble is her favorite.   MLB

Jake will not eat canned cat food.  Loves his crunchies and his thawed out
hand diced shrimp.  He will eat turkey or ham if I hold it for him just
right.

We will find out in a few days how healthy he is or isn't.  We had to visit
the TED yesterday to rule out a physical cause for some "inappropriate"
peeing.  I had them run a senior panel as well since he is nine years old
and it has been a fairly rough nine years.

I do try to feed him the very best dry food I can find.  Usually Nutro.
Charlie thinks that is  boring for him so he doctors it with about 10%
Delicat for variety.

Molly gets a can of Fancy Feast once in a while.  She isn't crazy about it
either, but will eat part of a can.  Jake just walks past it like someone
spilled something on the counter and should really clean it up.

LOL! That is how Mir reacts to any sort of cat food - dry or wet.

Purrs for Rita. I hope whatever it is passes soon and she likes her
gooshy food again.

Well, she did eat half a can yesterday, and scarfed down the treats I
gave
her.  The problem is, there is very little that can be used as
'treats' for her.
She doesn't like anything that looks like people food. She's not
eating
more kibble than usual.  But she's playing, and running, and carrying
mice all over the place, like normal.
I'll get some hairball stuff and see if that helps.

Thanks,

My guess is hairballs.  Get some Temptations for Hairballs and see if
that makes a difference.  If they are full of fur, they don't feel
like eating - REALLY!

Hopefully all is well by now.
Lots of purrs and best wishes,

Nope, she's still leaving a large amount of canned food alone, but she
really does seem
fine otherwise (as the party showed!), so I'm guessing that she just
doesn't want to
lose her girlish figure. Such a vain little girl.
