Marina - 10 Sep 2007 10:09 GMT I finally managed to get a shot of Caliban just chilling, in one of his favourite positions:

or

I've also uploaded some very short videos, one of Caliban sitting in a new shoe box and giving the slow blink a few times, one of Mir outside and playing with a plant (and fighting hard toi get rid of a seed she accidentally got in her mouth), and one of Caliban hanging over the edge of the fridge:

These are taken with the video feature on my camera, so they're not great quality. The one of Mir is very grainy, because I didn't notice I had it set to 'Compact.'
Ooh, I just realised it's recorded some sound, too. If you crank up the sound, you'll hear me baby-talking Caliban in the one where he's sitting in the box, and you'll hear Mir complaining in the background in the one of Caliban on the fridge.

(They are very short because I only have an old 64-MB memory card in my camera. I've ordered a larger one.)

I love the competitive nature of the mutual groom, Bandit & Claudius are like that only more so, Bandit & Snowball a bit more relaxed, but Snowball & Claudius donm't groom each other at all :(. BTW Cal needs to learn how big he is, that box is only a footbath for him.

And that was a fairly calm grooming session. It can get much more competitive, without turning into a wrestling match. Just each one trying to 'out-groom' the other. Of course, sometimes it does turn into a wrestling match.
BTW Cal needs to

He's so loveable. ;)

What a couple of characters! Dante was very interested in Mir's singing. ;)
I have a couple of vids of Dante on deck-- I should put them up today.

Cali on the fridge is so funny. What is he doing?? I wish my cats liked each other that much!

Miranda's complaining is very cute. Unless she does this all the time. :) Buster's a little crybaby too, especially compared to Dot, who usually just gives squeaks and acks.

Caliban does it everywhere - on the sideboard, on a table, on a cat tree... The worst was when he did it on the roof of my shack last summer. But he never falls. Except from the jetty, but he was craning to see the birdies then. :P

I used to have a cat who would sleep on the back of an upholstered armchair, all four legs dangling. On a few occasions, she forgot where she was and rolled over, resulting in a loud thump, followed by an attitude of "I meant to do that".

Somehow, I don't think Caliban could have pulled off "I meant to do that" when he was dripping wet. :)

He just looked so happy when you baby-talked him! Blinky-blinky boy.

That one was very pixelated on my screen. The others played smoothly, though Cali in the box was very dark, and I had to turn my screen just so in order to see it. The mutual grooming session was very clear, though.

The other ones looked jerky, like a film that gets stuck every few seconds. Maybe because the Mir video was compressed, it streamed faster to my PC? (It's weird, because I have a broadband connection.)
