In the case of my Bandit - although at 10 he's really only just into his
prime - the answer is certainly "yes".

Now apparently fully recovered from his ops., he's rediscovered his
kittenhood. Thanks to the Siamese blood I'm sure is in his bloodline
somewhere.
He took to batting one of the Bottletops usually reserved by Claudius around
the tiled kitchen floor. It came to my feet so I threw it over his head
across the room. He raced after it and brought it back to me - but not in
his mouth: he batted it skilfully from front paw to front paw in a series of
rapid diagonal forward passes (think the Brasilian soccer team) until it
arrived in front of me again. So I repeated the throw and he repeated the
Retrieve three further times. On the next one he chased but didn't
retrieve - instead he came back and lay down beside me, propped up by a
kitchen cabinet, and began purring loudly (no pettins needed, hough of
course he soon got some) :)

Always before his footballing skills have had random results with the "ball"
ending up in an inaccessible place under heavy furniture etc., so this is
quite a breakthrough. Hopefully it'll continue.

Purrs to all (we're particularly well endowed with them at present)

You need to call him Pele!

Neat suggestion :)  But as he's a Brit maybe Stanley (after Stan Matthews,
our greatest ever dribbler)

Or should I keep the Classical Greek theme I had with dear RB Pericles going
and try Socrates?

Nah, on third thoughts my Bandy-Babe is named just right.

Sounds like a very neat trick. Mir used to fetch toys, but she rarely
does it these days. She only brings me her stringie so I'll pull it
around for her. If I throw it, she'll go after it and *maybe* bring it
back, but she's just as likely to pull it somewhere else.
