Must she do THAT?

I consider myself to be a good meowmy.  I provide good food and LOTS of
toys any kitten would be glad to have.  And, don't get me wrong, she
seems to appreciate all my goodwill offerings of balls in tracks, and
stuff toys to rabbit kick and ballies with rattle sounds in them and the
STripey Things pompom balls (there are thousands of those around here -
he can share with her).  She has a nice scratching post that she
actually uses when she thinks I'm not looking, she has fur mousies to
kill and real fish to watch/chase.  And there are so many things I
cannot remember.

So, if she is this priviledged, why, I must ask you does she dig through
the litter box for poops to play with in addition to all the other
things she plays with.  How can she possibly get bored enough to think
about playing with poops?  I was doing okay with her habit of fishing
them out of the litter box (hey, I have three cats, there is ALWAYS
something in those litterboxes no matter how often I clean them) as long
as they stay right beside the litter box.  Last nights toy made it all
the way to the kitchen.  Sigh.  Guess I'll be bumping up how often I
clean the litterboxes.  Like, oh, say, maybe, rightbeforebed!!!!!  Sigh.

Shaking head,
Bridget

You do realize that will only force her to retrieve and play with "fresher"
samples?

THEY ROLL!!!

We can DIG for them!

WE find buried TREASURE!  We can SWAT treasure!  It ROLLS!  YAY!!!

YAY!  I CAN GET IT BEFORE YOU CAN!!!

WHEEE!!!

</bitty mode>

Bitty occasionally finds a dried up treasure to swat around the
bathroom.

I would say use the squirt gun as punishment for this toy.  Keep other
toys available near the litterbox, like fur mousies, something extra
appealing.  And cleaning out the boxes often wouldn't hurt either.

If you catch her doing it, use the squirt bottle.  A few times like
that ought to teach her this game is off limits.

Nothing like an invigorating game of turd-hockey to tire you out for another
nap ;)
